Be Naturally Stress Free for Your Big Day

Be Naturally Stress Free for Your Big Day
By Saira Gillani, ND
Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event where you want everything to be perfect. The stress from planning your wedding could make this the hardest thing you have ever done!  Don’t fret, these tips will help keep you stress-free before and during your wedding naturally.
As you plan for your big day:
MEDITATE
MEDITATEStressful events can produce short-term anxiety in almost everyone, which disappears after the event. Numerous scientific studies have found meditation to be effective for treating anxiety. It allows your brain to develop new pathways. The mind begins to experience itself without being overshadowed by anxious thoughts. Clear your head of worries. Start focusing on the in-and-out cycle of breathing, for just a few minutes a day or when you’re lying in bed at night. It will help slow your heart rate and relax your muscles, too.
USE ESSENTIAL OILS ORGANIZE
USE ESSENTIAL OILSLavender is well-known for its soul-soothing capabilities. Dr. Khadijah Ajanee, ND at Yours in Health recommends using a diffuser and adding a blend of Lavender, Frankincense, and Chamomile. Dab this blend onto your wrists, diffuse it, or light a perfumed candle to shift your mood quickly. ORGANIZEOrganization is key! Even if you’re the type who’s never made a list in your life, this is the time to write one. Create a checklist of things that need to be accomplished, budgets, and timelines. You will feel great as you mark off completed items and know things are moving along.
PAMPER YOURSELF EAT HEALTHY
PAMPER YOURSELFOne week before your wedding, get a deep tissue massage and facial. Spas work wonders with and will melt away your stress!  The facial will also ensure you look your best, but focus on a facial with a moisturizer to lock in your glow. And get a manicure and pedicure 2 days before your big day; many of your guests will want to see your ring and you want your hands to look your best! EAT HEALTHYStay focused on eating the right things. I recommend avoiding white carbohydrates and focusing on protein and vegetables. Also, remember to have a healthy breakfast and tie in healthy snacks between meals; a handful of raw nuts, organic plain Greek yogurt, 2 boiled eggs, an apple with almond butter are all great snacks. This will help you stay less bloated and wedding dress ready!
KEEP THE FLAME GOING WITH YOUR FUTURE HUBBY TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF
KEEP THE FLAME GOING WITH YOUR FUTURE HUBBYUnder the pressure and stress of planning a wedding, it’s easy to lose touch with the person you love most. Schedule date nights. Go to the movies, fancy dinners, and or just have a movie and pizza night at home night.  Keep your bond strong so you can enjoy this process and the journey you are taking. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF“Exercise is considered vital for maintaining mental fitness, and reducing stress. Exercise and other physical activity produce endorphin’s- chemicals in the brain that act as natural painkillers” states Maggie Dillavou, certified personal trainer at Thrive Health Systems. If your body feels better, so does your mind. Take a walk, go for a run, or dance around your kitchen. Any type of physical movement will help produce more uplifting and stress-stabilizing endorphins. When your body is in motion, your mind is focused. And focus is the key!
DELEGATE MAKE A PRE-WEDDING PLAYLIST
You can’t handle everything on your own, so enlist friends and family who have time to help. From place cards to running last minute errands, this is the time to allow them to help on your special day.

Create a list of music that will help reduce stress. According to a 2013 study, “Listening to the right stuff, can reduce your stress even more effectively than some prescription drugs.”
If you follow these steps, the only thing left to do at your wedding are:
EAT! ENJOY
EAT!Not eating on your wedding day is the worst thing you can do for your nerves. As soon as you wake up, have a reasonable breakfast with protein and some carbs. Some great healthy breakfast options are a green smoothie and ½ cup of steel cut oatmeal, Greek yogurt with nuts and berries, 3 egg whites scrambled with spinach, onions and feta cheese. Continue snacking throughout the day and into the reception. This will ensure your wedding day is Perfect!
ENJOYEnjoy the fruit of your planning. Enjoy every minute with your friends and family. But most of all enjoy with the Man of Your Dreams! Relax and take in every minute. You are married, so now Live Happily Ever After….TOGETHER!
