SOUTH ASIAN OUTREACH MINISTRY OF THE PRESBYTERY OF TROPICAL FLORIDA

HAPPY MOTHER”S DAY TO EVERY WOMAN

Mother is the most beautiful and comforting word in the world. Every woman is a mother. She can be a sister, a daughter, an aunt, a grandmother, a wife, but she plays the

role of a mother. She loves to take care of the people in her life. God has given the greatest honor to a woman by making her a mother. Woman creates the life in her body, nourishes the unborn baby with her blood and then gives birth with great labor and a human being comes in this world. Prophets and great men and women are born of a woman. What an honor! Mother’s day is her day. Let us honor our mothers. We should       also remember our mother who are in heaven and thank God for their love and faith.

“ Honor your father and mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.”                                                                                       Exodus 20: 12

Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household and a portion for her maidservants. She considers a field and buys it: from her profits she plants a vineyard. She extends her hands to the poor, yes she reaches out her hands to the needy.                                                                                              Proverbs 31: 10, 11, 15, 20, 21

Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. “Give her the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates”.                                                                            Proverbs 31: 25,26,28, 31

Listen to your father who begot you, and do not despise your mother when she is old. Let your father and your mother be glad, and let your mother who bore you rejoice.      Proverbs 23:22, 25

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

My son, keep your father’s command, and do not forsake the law of your mother.

                                                                                                     Proverbs 6:20
                                                                                                     Blessings,

Weekly devotion for the week of April 28-May 3, 2008

SOUTH ASIAN OUTREACH MINISTRY OF THE PRESBYTERY OF TROPICAL FLORIDA

May 1st, 2008 is the National day of prayer and also the Ascension of our Lord Jesus.

Prayer is the expression of human dependence on God and a connection to our creator. We can bring all our burdens and requests with thanksgiving to the alter of the Lord,  believing that He shall hear our prayers and will answer us.

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercession, and giving of thanks be made for all men.                                                                                                       Timothy 2: 1

Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.                                                                                     James 12: 15

And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.                                                                                        James 5: 15

ASCENSION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

The Ascension of our Lord tells us that our Lord is exalted and ascended Lord and savior. Before He was taken to the heaven, He gave us the great commission, “Ye shall be my witnesses.” He also said “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”                                                         Matthew 28: 19-20

Are we witnessing for Christ or we are afraid of offending people?

Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.                                                                                    Acts 1: 9

And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”                                                                                                      Acts 1:10-11

He lifted up His hands and blessed them. Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.                                                  Luke 24:50-51-51

Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth”.                                                Matthew 28: 18

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

Jesus is with us always, even to the end of the age.

                                                                                                                 Blessings,

SOUTH ASIAN OUTREACH MI NIS TRY OF THE PRESBYTERY OF TROPICAL FLORIDA

People all over the world want to belong, to be accepted and to be loved just as they are. “Accept me” is the secret wish of everyone. Some of us have hard time accepting people who are not from their group, religion, race or nationality. We make our own judgments, according to our own mantle level and thinking. The good news of the gospel is that God did accept us as we are. Good, bad, broken. He adopted us into His family, put the royal robe of welcome around our shoulders and leads us to His banquet table. So let us rejoice in Him and live like the child of God.

Jesus said, Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.                                                                                                        Matthew 11: 28

Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he, who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.                                                                                            Psalm 100: 3

For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the people on the face of the earth to be his treasured possession.                                 Deuteronomy 7:6

Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.                                                                                                      Isaiah 49: 15-16

For the lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.                                                                                                        2 Chronicles 30: 9

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

                                                                                                                  Matthew 11:28

Weekly devotion for the week of April 14, 2008

SOUTH ASIAN OUTREACH MINISTRY OF THE PRESBYTERY OF TROPICAL FLORIDA

We praise God that in the midst of the chaos in our world there is a powerful core of believer whose first, last and only love is the risen Christ. There culture and traditions might seem different, but in every heart the same love for the Lord Jesus Christ burns brightly. This true love forms the basis of the triumphant church of Christ on earth.

For as we have many members in one body, but al the members do not have the same function, So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.    Romans 12: 4-5

If it is possible, as much as depends on you, love peaceably with all men.

Romans 12: 18

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.                               Galatians 6: 2

Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s wellbeing.                           1 Corinthians 10:24

If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” You do well. James 2:8

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

                                                                                                                 Blessings,
