Their incredible multicultural wedding weaved Sindhi, American, and English traditions and took place in south Florida. Wedding festivities began with a haldi ceremony, mehndi, and sangeet. The haldi ceremony was a new experience for Peter’s family as they had never seen someone’s bare body rubbed with tumeric paste. The sangeet and mehndi party were celebrated at the Microtheater Miami, an outdoor venue featuring performances in shipping containers.

The wedding ceremony and reception were held at the Historic Walton House in Homestead, Florida. The outdoor afternoon wedding took place under a mandap decorated to enhance the natural lush greenery. Red and orange flowers and foliage made the wedding location picturesque.

One special moment at the festivities was the baraat. In a unique touch, the baraat was lead by Peter along with his high school marching band! Though the couple originally thought to host their wedding in the United Kingdom, it didn’t work out. So, the effect of the English marching band was quite appreciated by the couple and the guests. A wow moment for Peter was when he saw Roshan in her wedding outfit. It simply blew his mind away.

While visiting Liz’s friend in Baltimore, the couple went on a food tour, joined by her friend and Vikram’s sister. Vikram insisted on finding the perfect spot for a photo on the boardwalk, making Liz a little suspicious until he got down on one knee with a ring. Liz was very surprised, and both were happy to begin a new journey together. They began planning a Palm Desert wedding, near Liz’s parents at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens.With the help of the venue’s event planner and on-site caterer, the couple arranged for a Sikh ceremony, non-denominational ceremony, and evening reception to take place on the same day.

First was the morning Sikh ceremony, or Anand Karaj, in which Liz entered with her eight closest girlfriends and the newlywed couple exchanged garlands of red and white carnations. This was followed by the non-denominational ceremony in which the bride and groom walked down the aisle with their parents instead of a traditional bridal party. The natural setting of the desert was so breathtaking that there was no need for extra decorations, which Liz and Vikram appreciated.

They also held a second reception one week later in Coral Springs, Florida for 300 additional guests, and Liz defended her doctorate dissertation just three weeks after the entire wedding affair. Liz and Vikram were glad they made the concerted decision to enjoy themselves before the wedding, and they were able to make precious memories with their loved ones while celebrating their love for one another.

The matching bride and groom outfits were designed by CT West of Canada and

sent to India to be stitched and completed with matching customized jewelry. To capture their timeless love and special moments, the hashtag #RajandAmanda2016 was used on social media starting with the proposal all the way through the honeymoon in Tahiti and Bora Bora. In honor of their native land Trinidad, the couple chose the Lakshmi Narayan Temple in Miami, Florida for their marriage ceremony. The reception took place at the Diplomat Golf and Tennis in Hallandale Beach. The Mehndi and Sangeet function took place where they first met – at the home of their aunt and uncle! The décor was mesmerizing with multicolored draped fabrics illuminated with LED lighting and uplights. Both families thoroughly enjoyed the sangeet, especially the tassa drums and

singing by New York performers led by Randy Ramdeen. Six gold Laxmi murtis led the way to the mandap, which was draped in gold fabric and accessorized with flowers and LED lighting. A memory table with a Ganesh murti honored deceased loved ones with pictures. Each of the 165 invited guests were given a box of Indian sweets, a granola bar, water bottle and the six page program done in red, gold and ivory, describing each ritual significance. A drone filmed the baarat with the groom entering on a fully decorated elephant to “Jashn E Bahara,” while the bride entered with her father to “Din Shagna Na.” The couple left in a White 2015 Rolls Royce.True to the Valentine Evening, the reception décor oozed romance with its bluish pink and gold theme. Centerpieces of white hydrangeas and pink roses were magical with up lights and LED lighting. This was accentuated with light pink and ivory colored linens alternating on each table and beautifully complementing the gold beaded chargers and gold coaster set presented to each of the 135 guests present. Amidst a royal cuisine of four course meal, was the five tier cake in Vanilla Rum and Almond Amaretto. The couple’s first dance was to a mix of “All of Me” by John Legend and “Pee Loon”- perfect blend of east and west.

From lavish designs and bold colors to pastel florals and subtle centerpieces, weddings can be the ultimate expression of a couple’s personality. Through intricately designed mandaps, lush, fragrant florals, and creative use of color, couples can personalize nearly every aspect of their wedding decorations. While the type of venue and the choice of colors and foods can shape the feel of a wedding, the overall design and decorations tie all the pieces together creating an event to remember.

Finding a decorator, next to choosing a photographer, may be one of the most important tasks of wedding planning. Selecting a decorator should not be an after thought, but rather, a thorough search for a designer who understands your personality, style, and likes and dislikes. Madhu Anand of Anand Event Services shares that a decorator “…should understand their personality and be able to reflect it in the decorations.” Remember, you will be spending quite a bit of time working through your ideas for your dream wedding, so personality (yours and the vendor’s!) is a crucial aspect of the selection process. Choose a vendor that not only understands your personality, but also grasps your vision and ideas for a memorable occasion.

  Factors to Consider As with all your wedding vendors, budget is an important consideration for many couples and can determine the intricacy and detail of your design. Factor in whether you will do some or most of the decorations on your own. If you choose to rely heavily on a wedding decorator, pay close attention to their portfolio. Are they a full service decorator offering florals, lighting, and design? If your dream is a personalized and unique event, be sure to
share all details with your chosen decorator. Anand emphasizes that couples should “make sure the decorator understands their style – whether it is going to be traditional or modern, simple or elaborate.”

    Whether you choose to do-ityourself or enlist the help of a decorator, you will need to be mindful of several factors when creating your design. The timing of your event, type of venue, and experience of your chosen decorator will influence the end result.

    Timing: Be sure to consider the time of year, as this will influence the choice of colors and florals. Jilna Jasani of Suhaag Garden reminds couples to “… choose flowers based on the season … Rather than have your heart set on a particular type of a flower, start by asking for available options and then determine whether your heart is still set on those “must-have” white calla lilies.”

    Also think about the time of day the event will take place. An outdoor, morning wedding will have a significantly different feel than an indoor, evening event. Your wedding decorator will be able to create a design that incorporates natural elements (such as lighting) as well as fabrics and other decor pieces.

Venue: Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors? What type of lighting will be available? Do you need to work around any unchangeable items, such as pillars or carpet color? Experienced wedding decorators will not only know how to work with a venue’s lighting and shortcomings, but also with the venue’s staff. Previous experience with a venue puts the decorator at a great advantage, ensuring your vision will come about easily and efficiently.

Experience: As with any wedding vendor, experience matters. Remmal Karamsadkar of Occasions by Shangri-la believes that couples should “ … first look for a reputable company with a good reputation who has venue and client references. The second tip is to make sure the décor company has a portfolio of unique concepts. Our third tip is to find a company with years of experience and highly trained specialist.” An experienced decorator has likely not only worked at number of venues with a wide range of materials, but also has a wide and varied design portfolio.

Prepare for Your First Meeting
Most couples (or the bride, at the very least!) already have a vision for their desired dream wedding. After scouring Pinterest and trolling through friends’ Facebook feeds, you are probably drawn to a specific style of mandap and type of floral and fabrics. Jasani advises that “sites like Pinterest and Lover.ly are great for creating your vision board for your big day. Having visuals will greatly help ensure you and your decorator are on the same page.” The visuals are a starting point for you and your decorator to create a unique and personalized design.

    Don’t forget to share any details of your proposal and how you met with your decorator! Karamsadkar adds “Before meeting with your decorator, couples should prepare to think about and discuss their wedding event vision and inspirations. Decide if there are colors or a theme that you would like to incorporate into your décor.” The more details, the better. A decorator must truly understand the concepts you have in mind to be able to create a design that leaves you speechless.

Jilna (SG): The wedding day is full of firsts: the first time you refer to your beloved as husband (or wife), the first time you get dolled up from head to toe, etc. We strive to add to that list of heartwarming first moments. The bride and groom-to-be do walkthroughs at the venue number of times before the big day, but they don’t see the space transformed until that day. That look of awe and sound of excitement when the bride and groom walk into their own wedding is what drives us (and gives us a big sigh of relief!).

Madhu (AES): There are somany favorite moments, but the excitement truly lies in seeing the bride in all her finery for the first time when she enters!

Remmal (OBS): Our staff’s favorite wedding moment is when the Bride and Groom enter their event for the first time. We love to see the happy look on their faces. At that point, we feel that we kept our promise to make your event a true expression of your taste and vision.

Priya and Shawn met through a mutual friend, and the first time Shawn saw her, he predicted that she was going to be his future wife. For their first date, they went to a BBQ restaurant in Chicago and after sharing an evening filled with much fun and laughter, Priya knew Shawn’s prediction would come true.

On what seemed like an ordinary day in April 2013, Shawn and Priya went shopping at the Oakbrook Mall in Chicago, but Shawn rushed her through the trip. When Priya reached home, she was in for a huge surprise. The house was littered with rose petals and candles, and soft music played in the background. Priya’s friend Shola recording the homecoming. On the bed were a dress, pair of shoes, and note that read, Tonight is our night.” Shawn took her out for dinner at a Brazilian steakhouse, and after, they went to the Field Museum of Natural History overlooking the city. There, Shawn proposed and Priya could not refuse!
The engagement took place in April 2013, and the wedding was planned for May 2014. Since Priya wanted an outdoor wedding, the couple settled on the rotating rooftop at the Hyatt Pier 66 after considering the weather and time. Anand Event Services did most of the wedding planning.

The Sangeet was a wonderful event with the hall decorated with rose centerpieces, crystals, white highboys, lowboys, paisley monograms, lit bar and contemporary lighting. The color theme was bright and bold orange, emerald green, blue and bright pink.

The wedding took place on the rotating rooftop overlooking Fort Lauderdale Beach. A beautiful mandap was setup on the rotating section of the room. Hot pink and apple green were the colors of choice for decorations. Heavy gold chivalry chairs with alternating hot pink and apple green padding were placed in the room. Since the room had its own charm, the decorations were purposefully understated. Priya’s dad and brother surprised the bride when the wedding ended with a shower of rose petals and a plane circling the rooftop carrying the message “Congratulations Priya and Shawn.” From there, guests moved on to cocktails on the lawn where the color theme was pink and purple.

The ceremony programs, gold colored with pink and green lettering designed by Priya’s brother, explained the meaning of Hindu wedding, how the couple met, names of the bridal party, and a thank you note for guests. Handmade ribbons were used to decorate the programs. The music at the ceremony was a mix of Bollywood and bhangra songs.

For the reception, the couple chose a winter wonderland theme as a tribute to Chicago where they met. The reception venue was decorated with white and silver with dashes of eggplant purple. Three different crystal centerpieces with purple lilies, hydrangeas and roses adorned the place. Tea light crystal candles were hanging on head tables. All tables included crystal cutlery and candleholders placed on white tablecloth. The white ballroom featured a white dance floor with a PS monogram. White drapes and purple uplighting illuminated the hall. Dinner, in the form of food stations, was arranged outdoors, near the water. The dessert area included a photo booth and two acrylic bars.

The bride and groom made a grand one of a kind entrance to fireworks following a video in which Priya was looking for a lost Shawn after the wedding ceremony. For their first dance, they swayed to John Legend’s “All of Me” with dry ice effects on the dance floor. ACE DJs played music for the reception and family members put up several performances and speeches.
Priya and Shawn urge would-be brides and grooms to enjoy the whole process of planning because everything happens so fast during this phase of life. They also recommend using a wedding planner to ease the planning process and ensure perfection at the wedding.

To be in love is special. When you share love, companionship, strong friendship and wonderful camaraderie, you can be sure you have found the person of your dreams. Niketha and Hiren do not just share the same profession, but also a life of promise and love.

Love blossomed when Niketha and Hiren studied together at Optometry school. A strong friendship over two years soon made way for love, and after courting one another for three years, Hiren was certain that the time was right to take things to the next level.

In what seemed the most proper way forward, Hiren made a clandestine trip to seek the permission and blessings of Niketha’s parents. Thereafter, a surprise lay lurking for Niketha, who was welcomed into her living room with candles and rose petals, and a moving proposal no one could have turned down.

After the official engagement, things started moving at great speed with just one year before the wedding. Both Hiren and Niketha were completely involved at each stage. Niketha was keen on getting married in South Florida, where she was raised. The location was particularly relevant to the couple who also began their relationship in that state. Niketha flew in every month to meet vendors and check on how things were progressing.

Marriages are not just about the couple, but also about the families. Niketha’s parents made many calls to ensure details were managed. Hiren’s parents flew to India to arrange for invites, sweets, wedding outfits and gifts. The couple also had their siblings rallying behind them offering ample support.

Not only did the Double tree by Hilton in Deerfield Beach serve as a beautiful venue, but the location also offered the couple, their families and their guests an intimate setting and feeling of warmth, both of which were typified during the wedding events. All wedding participants had an opportunity to meet and learn more about one another, and of course, they had ample time to enjoy each event to the full extent.

The couple chose to have an afternoon wedding, and the venue was decorated in red and gold, with flowers, crystals and rose petals offering delightful accents. Highlighting the aisles were crystals and candelabras. Matching ceremony programs in red and gold were placed on every seat. The groom arrived in splendor on a magnificent white horse, and he left with his bride in a grand white limousine.

The reception was all about romance and exclusivity. Red and amber lights were the perfect choice to create a whimsical feel. Elaborate centerpieces at each of the reception tables drew everyone’s attention, and decorations made using a variety of colored roses completed the picture perfectly.

Music was the highlight of the occasion, with a medley of varied genres played by the DJ. A mother-son dance, father-daughter dance and couple dance were followed by a special performance by the Patel family.

While everyone went home with special memories, this was the perfect start to Niketha and Hiren’s life together. Niketha advises brides that though the planning process does not go exactly the way you imagine, let go of the smaller details and enjoy every minute. The most important aspects of the day are the bride and groom, and it is best not to lose sight of yourselves.

Although the formal engagement followed only four months later, preparations for the wedding began much earlier. With a decision to enjoy a wedding at home, it may have seemed like the going was going to be easy, but there was plenty to do. Luckily for them, there were enough family member and friends all pitching in to help.

While July 1st was the Big Day, there were intimate ceremonies that took place before it. The haldi ceremony that took place at the bride and groom’s residence simultaneously, followed by a night of entertainment. While the decor for both events was relatively simple, plenty was going on towards getting ready for the all-important wedding ceremony.

Rakesh Anand and his team managed gold pillars with a red dome as the basic framework, with up lighting and delicate scrollwork accentuating the design. The tables too reflected the colors in the tablecloth and overlay. There was entertainment in the form of a live band, treats in the wedding favors and a carefully crafted program all awaiting the guests. The aunts, meanwhile, chopped, mixed and spiced tirelessly to bring together an overwhelming feast of vegetarian foods and dessert. Before the time could be checked, the bride was ready and the wedding was set to begin.

Naresh, clad in a cream Sherwani, arrived in a grand limousine, and after a three day wait, got to meet his wife to be at her home in Lauderhill. Amid religious prayer and glamorous outfit changes, the bride and groom went through a seamless ceremony, and Naresh and Mattie left in the limo after the bidaai ceremony.

The reception was taken over completely by Mattie and Naresh, who planned and went through details personally. The Weston Hills used its natural beauty and combined it with the judicious use of carefully chosen flowers to look sublime. Ready to welcome close to 300 guests, the venue reflected the purple and ivory theme radiantly. Soon, dressed in a charcoal grey suit and white wedding gown, the man and wife presented themselves to the guests, and the evening was officially flagged off. Dances with father and mother respectively, an open dance floor and generous toasts ensured there was enough to have everyone in good humour.

Mattie went through the wedding with least stress. She now advises that you include as many close friends and family members as you can to help manage different aspects. She also wisely adds that you look only vendors and ensure they come with sound references. For the bride, she adds pointedly that you make sure that you have eaten and had plenty of water. With all the activity and excitement, you are most likely to forget about eating, and it can take a toll on your health. Eat, drink and be merry, for this is truly your special day!
