Shaktimaan Back on Screens

Shaktimaan Back on Screens

Shaktimaan is no stranger to any kid who grew up in the late 90s. His red velvet pants and chakra jacket had become a symbol of heroism. The superhero would be reprise on the telly world after being away for nearly 11 years.

Shaktimaan Returns

Mukesh Khanna of Shaktimaan fame has announced on his micro-blog that India’s first superhero would soon make a comeback on the TV.However, he did not spill any more details about when the show would air or about cast members.

Currently, the actor is playing the patriarch of a Punjabi family in a show titled Waaris. He still has a picture of himself dressed as Shaktimaan in his personal vanity van.

About 400 episodes of Shaktimaan aired from 1997 to 2005. However, the show is still popular among the kids as well as the adults even though it last aired 11 years ago.

His strong and suave superhero avatar and his nerdy photojournalist alter ego are still fresh in the minds of viewers.

The plot of the series was fairly simple and revolved around the beginning of the Kaliyuga that led to the advent of corruption and evil. Thus, the wise ‘Suryanshis’ vested the power of five natural elements in a man who would fight the evils prevalent in the society. Also, the anti-heroes in the series were quite popular because of their haunting catch phrases.

This superhuman saga was a trend setter, a bold risk taker of the decade. It had paved way for Indian superheroes. It would be quite interesting to see what Shaktimaan 2.0 would bring back to the platter. Shaktimaan will surely require a modern retake to be ahead of the modern superheroes re-captivate the audience with its charm.

Will Mukesh be able to pull off the modern Shaktimaan avatar? Will the other characters revive their inimitable roles? When will Shaktimaan 2.0 air? These are some of the questions boggling the minds of Shaktimaan fans.

Akshay Kumar Steals Watch

Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishekh Bachchan, Jackie Shroff and Chunky Pandey appeared on the The Kapil Sharma show on May 9 to promote their upcoming movie Housefull 3.

The Housefull 3 gang tickled the audience with their hilarious jokes and pranks. A source reported that the trio was in a fun mood on and off the set. He added that Akshay Kumar, being a complete prankster took off with an audience member’s watch while the latter did not even notice.

During the episode, a contest was organized in which one lucky audience member was promised a special prize.

When the winner came on stage to collect his prize, Akshay very stealthily stole his watch.  All this while, the winner was unaware of what was happening. Later Akshay confessed his prank and rightfully handed over the watch to its owner.

Akshay also tweeted a picture of the trio riding a bike reminiscent of a scene from the epic movie Sholay … “Fun time with this bunch of loonies,” he captioned it. The photo was apparently clicked when the trio made a stylish entry on Kapil’s show.

The movie’s directors Farhad and Sajid also accompanied the trio to the show.

The trailer of Housefull 3 was just uncovered. It is gathering appreciation from the audience owing to its rib-tickling gags and comical punches. The movie’s first song “Taang Uthake” has already topped “most played” on playlists with its energizing music and off-track lyrics.

The movie was produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakri and Lisa Haydon have also been cast as leading ladies in the film.  The film is slated hit screens June 3.
