Dear Readers,

A few days ago, we had the honor to be a part of the press contingency covering Prime Minister Modi’s address at Madison Square Garden in New York City. One US reporter correctly stated that Modi rocked Madison Square Garden, and that is should have been known as Modison Square Garden that day! In a venue where rock stars often perform, PM Modi made history when over 20,000 people came to listen to his address.

The venue hall was full of excitement not only when the crowd chanted “MODI, MODI, MODI,” but also from ten o’clock in the morning until Modi left the hall. Being a part of such a historic moment is not one we will soon forget. In this issue, we share a bit of the Prime Minister’s address as well as a look into his visit to the United States.

By now I am sure you have noticed PM Modi is a popular leader not only among Indians, but also on the world stage. It is an injustice to cover Modi in just three four pages. So, Desh-Videsh is proud to announce a special edition on Modi, which will come out in mid-October. The festival season is upon us, and this month, we celebrate Diwali. Living in the US, many of us have found ways to celebrate the holiday and preserve our memories and traditions. Younger generations are making new traditions while also staying true to the spirit Diwali, truly making it a meaningful time of year for all. Even more children are sharing the meaning of Diwali with their classmates (with the help of the HAF Diwali Toolkit), which is fantastic!

And before you get carried away with eating your way through the holidays, try not to stray too far from the healthy path. Food is the central theme for many holidays, but in today’s world, we all have to be more conscious of what we put into our bodies. Read about ways to keep it healthy this holiday season and learn a couple recipes this month.

This year, Desh-Videsh Media Group hosted four MyShadi Bridal Expos – Tampa, Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, and Orlando. This issue features a recap of the excitement each show brings. We thank all of our participating vendors and the amazing brides, grooms, and families we meet in each town for their continued support.

Though not until next year, we’ve started planning the 2015 MyShadi Bridal Expos. Mark your calendars and join us in Atlanta on March 1 at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel and in Ft. Lauderdale on March 29 at the Bonaventure Resort & Spa.

The team at Desh-Videsh wishes our extended community a very happy Diwali. May the new year be prosperous and bring you much joy and happiness.
