After more than four decades in the United States, Rajan Ahuja, the first Indian American Port Commissioner of Corpus Christi, made an emotional return to his hometown, Prayagraj, formerly Allahabad. His trip was a heartfelt journey to rediscover the places and people that shaped his youth. Ahuja shared that he hired a driver to revisit his old home and was delighted to reunite with his childhood neighbor Majit Nabanda after 44 years. The two embraced, reminiscing about their shared past.

He also met his best friend and visited familiar spots from his childhood, including the Kalyan Devi Mandir and the local guru’s home, where he once spent much of his time. Calling it one of the best trips of his life, Ahuja said the visit reminded him of his cultural and spiritual roots. Though brief, it rekindled his deep connection to Prayagraj—a city he now vows to revisit on his next trip to India.
