Amardeep Sharma Wins Banking Excellence Award in London

Indian finance executive Amardeep Sharma has received international recognition for his contributions to banking and investment management. He was presented with the Excellence in Banking & Finance award at the Indo-European Business Forum (IEBF) Awards 2026, held at London’s House of Lords on October 14. The ceremony brought together British parliamentarians, diplomats, policymakers, investors, and business leaders to celebrate achievements across multiple industries.

Sharma, founder and chairman of Greenback Capital Limited, received the honor during a ceremony that highlighted the growing connections between Indian professionals and international financial markets. The award was announced by Baroness Verma and presented alongside Kanishka Narayan, the United Kingdom’s Minister for Artificial Intelligence, and other parliamentary representatives, including Seema Malhotra, Dan Carden, Lord Uday Nagaraju, and Lord German.

From Indian Banking to Global Finance

Sharma began his professional journey at ICICI Bank in 2001, building expertise in retail banking, corporate finance, and investment banking. His career subsequently expanded beyond India, with professional assignments in Oman, Indonesia, Colombia, and the United Arab Emirates. One of his notable responsibilities was serving as country head for Indonesia.

Drawing on this international experience, Sharma later established Greenback Capital Limited, a financial services company based in the Dubai International Financial Centre. The firm is regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority and provides investment advisory, asset management, and collective investment fund management services.

According to the IEBF’s official award program, Greenback Capital has more than $6 billion in combined assets under management and advisory. Sharma has also been associated with Credibila, a separately operated private-market investment platform focused on providing structured access to investment opportunities.

Advancing India-UK Business Relations

The award ceremony took place amid continued efforts to strengthen economic cooperation between India and the United Kingdom. Discussions at the 2026 IEBF gathering highlighted the importance of investment, technology, and commercial partnerships, including developments following the implementation of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.

Kanishka Narayan addressed the gathering, emphasizing the relationship between trust, technological advancement, and future bilateral cooperation.

Founded by Vijay Goel, the Indo-European Business Forum promotes business partnerships and investment opportunities connecting India, Britain, and Europe. The ceremony also honored singer Kanika Kapoor with the India-UK Cultural Ambassador Award and recognized achievements in sectors including renewable energy, healthcare, and community service.

Sharma’s recognition reflects a career spanning Indian banking and international financial services, with Dubai serving as the base for his investment management business.
