Sunil Grover opens up about earning Rs. 500 a day and how he spent all his savings in parties when he first came to Mumbai!
Sunil Grover was last seen in Bharat with Salman Khan and his performance was being appreciated by the fans and critics alike. However, before he became ‘Guththi’, a character he played on The Kapil Sharma Show, he has had his fair share of struggles and difficulties. In his recent interaction with Humans of Bombay, Sunil Grover opened up about his struggling days and how he spent all his savings by living in a posh area and partying.
He started off by talking about how he was the best in his class, and said, “I was always good at acting & making people laugh. I remember in 12th grade I took part in a drama competition–the chief guest said that I shouldn’t participate, because it was unfair to the others! After I finished my masters in theatre, I came to Mumbai to act. But for the first year, I only partied. I lived in a posh area, using my savings & some money from home. I’d only earn around Rs.500 a month. But I thought I’d be successful soon. Eventually I realized that there were many like me, who were ‘superstars’ of their town & ‘strugglers’ here. Soon I had no income & was given a harsh reality check.”
Elaborating further about how he became who he is and how he got himself back on his feet, he said, “I was demotivated. But I remembered how my dad wanted to be a radio announcer & even had an offer. But because my granddad was against it, he had to work at a bank & regretted it. I didn’t want to let my dreams go. So I picked up the pieces & rigorously looked for work. But the road was still rocky. Once I’d been selected to act in a TV show–we’d even shot for a few days. But when I stopped getting my time to come on set, I called the team–they said I’d been replaced. At the same time I also started getting work in voiceovers. So when I’d be rejected from TV & films, I had a cushion to fall back upon–something that most didn’t have. I realized how fortunate I was & regained my strength bit by bit.”
He even spoke about the time his radio show became viral, “Around that time, I got offered to do a radio show. It was only going to be aired in Delhi, but when that show went live, it went viral! They decided to air it across India! After that, I got work in radio, TV & films. Soon ‘Gutthi’ happened & in no time, became a household name! I remember I was called on a live show & when I went on stage, the audience was roaring for me! I turned to make sure there wasn’t anyone else, whom they were clapping for–but it was all for me. It took several moments like that, to bring back that young boy in me, who used to think that he could conquer the world. The young boy who used to make sure that everyone around him was smiling & entertained. The young boy who didn’t let failures dim his dreams & overpower his need for victory. So even though I’ve come this far… this young boy has a long way to go.”

Kareena Kapoor Khan has spent quite a few days shooting for Angrezi Medium in London and while she was there, she managed to spend some quality time with her family and shoot for magazine covers! Leaving her fans in awe of her, she appeared on the cover of UK’s leading digital south Asian bridal magazine, Khush. Shabana Azmi on supporting the LGBTQ cinema
One of the most committed actors of all times Shabana Azmi firmly believes in LGBTQ rights. Years ago when the movement was in its infancy in 1996, Shabana dared to play a lesbian role in Deepa Mehta’s Fire.
“Now 23 years later I’ve moved on,” says Shabana, “In Sheer Qorma I play the mother of a daughter, played by Divya Dutta, in a same-sex marriage. Many years after the marriage Divya’s character returns with her partner (played by Swara Bhaskara) to win her mother’s approval of the match. It is a fabulous role and a great concept. When the director Faraz Arif Ansari came to me with the offer I was moved to tears. It is such a simple emotional story about acceptance.”
This is not the first time that Shabana plays a mother coming to terms with her daughter’s sexuality. In Fawzia Mirza’a Signature Move Shabana was cast as the mother of a Pakistani lesbian in America who must reconcile her orthodox upbringing and beliefs with her daughter’s sexual preference.
Says Shabana, “It is very important for actors to do films that open up dark spaces in our society. Playing safe is not always a desirable thing to do. One has to step out of the comfort zone and explore subjects that may seem uncomfortable but nonetheless must be addressed.”

Vicky Kaushal is set to don the military uniform for the second time with Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw biopic. Before that, he was elated to meet the Indian Army officers. It is a beautiful moment for filmmaker Imtiaz Ali whose film Love Aaj Kal starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone completed ten years on July 31. The director took to his Instagram to share a heartwarming photo with a caption that read, “In these ten years after Love Aaj Kal, I see that the process of a love relationship has changed dramatically. The way young people think of relationship now, I could not have predicted ten years back. It’s fascinating and very inspiring.”

A few days ago, Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor and the team of Street Dancer 3Dfinally wrapped up the film after several months of blood, sweat, and tears. The Remo D’souza directorial will be bigger in scale in terms of dance and music. While they enjoyed the wrap-up party, it was also a grand occasion for the director to have launched his restaurant Ministry of Dance.
A week before its official launch on August 7, Remo D’souza threw a party for his team and cast after the wrap. Since January, Varun Dhawan, Remo, Shraddha Kapoor, Lizelle D’souza have been busy with the shooting of the film. Before they get into the post-production work, they decided to enjoy a little bit. Prabhu Deva left the party early due to commitment for Dabangg 3.
Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Nora Fatehi grooved to the beats of ‘O Saki Saki’ among other songs. Remo kick-started the party while dancing on the bar table.

REVEALED: Reason why Badshah’s role in Lust Stories and Good News did NOT work out!
Singer and rapper Badshah will be making his acting debut with Khandaani Shafakhana with Sonakshi Sinha and Varun Sharma. The movie revolves around a girl who inherits her uncle’s sex clinic and her constant efforts to try and normalize conversations about sex. Badshah, who plays the role of a famous singer facing sexual disorder, has been offered similar roles in the past and he opened up about them not working out exclusively to Bollywood Hungama.
He said, “When I was offered Lust Stories, I thought Karan sir is joking. He told me the role is of a Punjabi guy who cannot satisfy his wife and I laughed it off. I was skeptical of it, Karan sir asked me to trust him, this happened when we were judging a reality show together and I felt like I was not ready to act. My priority was making music back then.” He further spoke about the second time Karan approached him with Good News’ script, “I remember I was on a trek in Manali and I noticed that Karan sir had called me around 5-6 times and I asked him what the matter was, he then explained to me that there’s a role like this. I thought he wanted me to do a song, and when I went to meet him, Shashank Khaitan was also there. Things didn’t work out for some other reason but I’m really happy that Diljit is doing it.”
Khandaani Shafakhana is slated to release on August 2 and his fans are excited to see him act on the big screen.

The video was shot in the backyard of a studio so that nothing gets damaged. “This was literally a day before the shoot of #OSakiSaki .. i had only about 2 days to learn how to do Fire dancing.. as u can see from this video i had fear written all over my face as i was doing this for the first time! My heart was racing and i was sweating like a pig! But in very less time i managed to figure out the technique and learnt the choreography only because i kept my determination despite the fear of dancing with fire and that too with such a heavy prop.. i have learnt a new skill now and im really proud of myself! Ive always been fascinated by fire dancing i just never had the courage to do it myself! But as an artist its always important to push yourself and find ways to work under pressure regardless of the circumstances! Never say i CANT always say I Will… thats been my moto since day 1 and the main reason for my evolution as an artist.. Hrithik Roshan has admired Jackie Shroff since he was a kid and now he is doing a film with his son, Tiger Shroff. The film is titled War and is said to be the biggest action films of the year. The movie has already been in the news for its high on adrenaline action sequences and bike chases that have left our mouths hanging open. Hrithik Roshan got into an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama and talked about why he likes to address Jackie Shroff as the ‘King’.
He recalled an incident that happened at one of the parties Rakesh Roshan hosted at their place when Hrithik was a kid. He says, “I call Tiger’s dad ‘King’ since the film he did with my dad, King Uncle. I remember he used to come over at my dad’s parties in the house and the party would go on upstairs, and I used to find Jackie uncle in the kitchen, on the floor talking to my staff. He never had that attitude where he thought of himself as a star, he would happily sit with them cross-legged and chit chat.”
War is slated to release on October 2 with Siddharth Anand as the director.

Sonakshi Sinha is busy with the promotions of her upcoming film, Khandaani Shafakhana. Sonakshi is playing the character of Baby Bedi who inherits and runs a sex clinic. While they talk about the taboo around sex, the actress is looking forward to creating awareness as well.
