Keerthy Suresh wins Best Actress National Award: Kerala’s film family celebrates

Suresh Kumar, Maneka and Keerthy Suresh, often referred to as Kerala’s complete film family, were in celebration mood after Keerthy Suresh bagged the best actress national award for her role in the bilingual film ‘Mahanati’. Speaking to IANS, Keerthy’s father Suresh Kumar, one of Malayalam film industry’s top notch producers, said, “It’s something that we will cherish for a long time”.

Several Bollywood celebrities have now reacted to it by pouring in warm wishes for the winners of National Film Awards 2019. The announcement was made in a press conference by Rahul Rawail, Chairperson, Feature Film Category; AS Kanal, Chairperson, Non-Feature Film Category and Utpal Borpujari, Chairperson, Best Writing on Cinema. The Chairpersons and other Jury Members earlier on Friday submitted a report on 66th National Film Awards to Union Minister Prakash Javadekar.

As television actor Karan Tacker flirted with Malaika Arora at the ongoing the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), her beau Arjun Kapoor came to the actress’ rescue with a funny response. Mrunal Thakur: ‘I want to be associated with good cinema’

Actress Mrunal Thakur, who made her big-screen debut last year with the Indo-American film “Love Sonia” and later featured in the Bollywood movie “Super 30”, says she always wants to be a part of good projects. I feel fortunate and blessed that I entered the film industry at a time when people just want to focus on content-driven cinema. My first film ‘Love Sonia’ deals with the issue of sex trafficking while ‘Super 30’ revolves around the life of a person who educated so many lives. So, for me, screen time does not matter. What matters the most is a good role. I just want myself to be associated with good films, Mrunal told IANS.

National Film Awards 2019 Highlights: Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal share Best Actor Award

National Film Awards 2019 Live Updates: The most prominent 66th National Film Awards were previously scheduled to be air in April but the Information and Broadcasting Ministry had announced the awards to be declared after the Lok Sabha elections. There are 31 film categories while the announcement of non-feature films announced in 23 categories. In a press release by I&B Ministry said, “Since the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is in force, which facilitates level playing field to all political parties and the candidates and inter alia seeks to ensure that the power of media is not used in such a manner which affects the general conduct and level playing field during the election process, it has been decided to declare the awards after the election process is over and the MCC concludes.”
