One of the most sacred collections of scriptures in India is known as the Vedas. Originally preserved through oral tradition, these divine teachings were later compiled and systematized by the great sage Rishi Vyasa. He entrusted this vast knowledge to four of his foremost disciples:

Rishi Paila Rig Veda

Rishi Vaishampayana Yajur Veda

Rishi Jaimini Sama Veda

Rishi Sumanta Atharva Veda

Together, these form the four great Vedas.

Each Veda is traditionally divided into three major sections:

Mantra Section

This section expresses Truth in poetic form. It glorifies nature and the eternal Reality, presenting the vision of Truth as seen by the poets.

Brahmana Section

This part explains rituals and ceremonial practices. It reflects the understanding of Truth as interpreted by priests.

Upanishads Section

This final section explores Truth philosophically. It presents the deepest inquiry into the nature of life and existence, as seen by philosophers.

“Thus, poets, priests, and philosophers are all contemplating the same eternal Truth from different perspectives. The Vedas honor every individual’s right to independently seek and realize Truth.”

Vedanta and the Meaning of Upanishad

The Upanishads are considered the essence of the Vedas. Since they appear at the end of each Veda, their philosophy is called Vedanta — Veda (knowledge) + anta (end).

The word Upanishad comes from three Sanskrit roots:

Upa — near

Ni — below

Shad — to sit

Thus, Upanishad means “to sit near and humbly at the feet of a teacher,” symbolizing the transmission of sacred knowledge from master to disciple.

The word Veda comes from the Sanskrit root “विद् (vid)”, meaning “to know.” Therefore, Veda means “knowledge.” The Vedas are eternal not merely as texts, but because the knowledge they convey is eternal.

Profound Vedic Declarations

Unity of Truth

Sanskrit (Devanagari):
एकं सद् विप्रा बहुधा वदन्ति।
(Ṛg Veda 1.164.46)

Transliteration:
Ekaṃ sad viprā bahudhā vadanti.

Meaning:
Truth is one; the wise call it by many names.

Welcoming Noble Thoughts

Sanskrit (Devanagari):
आ नो भद्राः क्रतवो यन्तु विश्वतः।
(Ṛg Veda 1.89.1)

Transliteration:
Ā no bhadrāḥ kratavo yantu viśvataḥ.

Meaning:
Let noble thoughts come to us from every direction.

Together, these two ślokas reveal a beautiful vision of oneness and harmony. We are urged to welcome knowledge from all traditions, philosophies, and faiths, because the eternal Truth is one, though known by many names.

Vision of Universal Unity

This timeless idea is also beautifully expressed in the Mahā Upanishad: The Mahā Upanishad is a lesser known but important philosophical text belonging to the Atharva Veda tradition.

Sanskrit (Devanagari):
वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्।

Transliteration:
Vasudhaiva kuṭumbakam.

Meaning:
The whole world is one family.

Since Veda means “knowledge,” Sanātana Dharma is, at its heart, a reverence for knowledge itself — a sacred pursuit of truth, wisdom, and enlightenment. The central purpose of the Vedas is to affirm the unity of mankind. Let harmony begin within India and then spread across the world.

“This is the grand and timeless vision of our Rishis — a world guided by wisdom, unity, and eternal Truth, as revealed in the Vedas.”

Introduction: In scripture, it is said that the new moon (Amavasya) shows us signs of things to come.
For the next 4 weeks, the following horoscopes are general forecasts with karmic remedies based on
traditional Vedic sidereal sign calculations and not the Western sun-sign. These should be read
according to your rising sign (Lagna) or Moon sign in your Vedic sidereal astrology chart.
ARIES – As Rahu (the North node) is in your 11th house of desires and Ketu (the South Node) is in your 5th
house, Aries lagna natives should be careful not to neglect children. If you have no children, the same
would apply to your creativity and romance. The pursuit of material gains could cause an imbalance in
your life if you’re not careful. Make time for fun as you also seek the rewards of your hard work.
Remember to speak sweetly, since the Sun, Moon, retrograde Mercury and Mars will be in your 8th
house of Scorpio, giving lots of energy to matters of in-laws or unearned income.
TAURUS – The Sun, Moon, and retrograde Mercury will be tightly conjunct in your 7th house with Mars
close by. Extra focus will be on partnership. Keep channels of communication kind and open.
Opportunity for marriage is there if you channel this energy properly. With your ascendant ruler (Venus)
in your 6th house, it’s an ideal time to do more for your physical health. All 12 signs should note that 5
planets are retrograde now, indicating a time to go over things more than once. You’re likely to
emphasize work and neglect home for the next year or so. Try to keep life in balance to avoid unwanted
loss.
GEMINI – Focusing on health, is always important, Gemini, but in the next 4 weeks, taking extra care
should be a theme for you. Holiday parties can tempt us to eat the wrong foods and to drink in a way
that’s not good for us. Enjoy, but keep this in mind. Speak kindly to maternal aunts and uncles as your
ascendant ruler, Mercury is transiting their house in retrograde, near fiery Mars. There will be times
when staying silent could avert conflict, especially in the next 4 weeks. Venus in your 5th house could
bring opportunity for romance. If you’re single, don’t rush into anything, but enjoy the suspense.
CANCER – Your ascendant ruler, Moon, will be tightly conjunct the Sun and retrograde Mercury on this
new moon, with the fiery Mars close by in your 5th house of creativity, children, and romance. Be extra
cautious with new investments and speculative income during the next 4 weeks. Read contracts very
carefully and consult trusted experts for advice. Venus, the planet of beauty and love will be transiting
your 4
th house. Channel Laxmi energy. Invite the blessings of prosperity by beautifying your home. Take
your mom or a girlfriend to a beauty salon, or a day spa. Manifest beauty and love to make the most of
this lovely transit.

LEO – The 4-planet conjunction highlights your 4th house. Expect the unexpected at home and the
unconventional at your work, Leo. You are likely to entertain multiple guests and good communication
skills will be essential in those moments. Err on the side of being generous and magnanimous with
mothers and others who come into your space. Feeding your parents is always a great karmic remedy,
but will be especially meaningful in the next 4 weeks. Resist the temptation to argue with your family
when you don’t see eye to eye. A female neighbor, sister or cousin might have to decline your invitation.
Worry not. She will visit you soon.
VIRGO – Around the new moon of November 20th

, Venus will bless your 2nd house of family and
valuables. So, the next 4 weeks can bring you an increase in prosperity. The conjunction of Sun, Moon,
Mercury and Mars occurs in your 3rd house of siblings and neighbors. Transcend tension with a brother,
male cousin or neighbor by the power of kind speech. You’ll have extra energy for enjoyment.
Opportunities for short trips have the spotlight now. Some events are likely to be repeated is if they
involve communication or travel. Mars can either cause fights or make us a hero. Be a hero when you
get the chance.
LIBRA – Your ascendant (Lagna) ruler, Venus, will be transiting there in your first house, Libra. I love it
when that happens. This is when you can shine your best. Honor this beautiful transit by dressing well to
channel extra positive vibes. Amazing miracles can happen when we bring out our Higher Self and make
it tangible for everyone to perceive. On this November new moon, the Sun, Moon, and retrograde
Mercury will be in your 2nd house with fiery Mars. Belongings and Family matters take the spotlight
during the next 4 weeks. Kind speech will transcend confrontation. Review past mistakes with spiritual
teachers and bring them food offerings.
SCORPIO – Of all the signs, Scorpio will feel this new moon’s transits the most. The Sun, Moon and
retrograde Mercury will be tightly conjunct at 4° of Scorpio, and your sign ruler, Mars will be there too,
at 17°. Being extra careful with your health will be important to you, especially in the next 4 weeks. You
will feel inclined to spending more than normal on luxury items or trips. Channel this karma by sharing,
donating and creating more good in the lives of others as well as your own. Donating to women’s
charities is an excellent way to channel Venus’ energy as she transits your 12th house.
SAGITTARIUS – After this new moon, you might experience feeling crowded in moments when you want
privacy and quiet. With the Sun, Moon, Mars and Mercury transiting your 12th house, this might be a
great time to spring for a getaway to a place near water. Since expenses are inevitable during this time,
make them work for the betterment of your life. Venus, the planet of luxury will be transiting your 11th
house of gains and expansive Jupiter is retrograde in your 8th house of unearned income. So, I see
money flowing, but be careful not to increase debts, as Venus also rules your corresponding 6th house
of debts.

CAPRICORN – There will likely be extra focus on your father’s family, cousins and/or elder siblings, in the
4 weeks following November‘s new moon. Also, Venus is in her own sign, transiting your 10th house of
father, work and authority. Channel this energy by decorating your work place and making sure it’s clean
and orderly. You can invite Laxmi’s energy this way. Mars will lead the Sun, Moon and retrograde
Mercury toward bringing you rewards for the hard work you’ve been doing lately. If you expect a raise,
consider not asking for it until Mercury has gone direct, or you might have to revisit that conversation 2
more times.
AQUARIUS – As the planets energize your 10th house of career, enjoy the office party, Aquarius, but
avoid discussions or arguments concerning politics or religion. Instead, bring up sports, food, or your
favorite TED talk to keep things friendly. Venus, the ruler of your house of higher knowledge and long
distance travels is gracing her own house on this new moon. If you have the chance, channel this
blessing by visiting a temple or ashram. If you’re unable to take a long trip, bring flowers to a local place
of worship and spend some time reflecting on your spirit … who you are and who you want to be.
PISCES – In the 4 weeks following the November New moon, you might feel even more than the normal
inclination to go to faraway places. The 4-planet conjunction of Sun, Moon, Mercury and fiery Mars is
happening in your 9th house of long-distance trips, higher education and gurus. Whether near or far,
visit a place of spiritual attunement. Take your family with you if it feels appropriate. Beware of
speeding or rushing too much. 5 planets are retrograde on this new moon, so you can’t take shortcuts.
It’s a great time for everyone to reflect, repair and re-write our story, so that moving forward will be
smooth and productive.

The Kumbh Mela is not a religious event alone; it represents a journey of faith, unity, and spiritual discovery that has become a global phenomenon. Held once every four years, this great fair brings together millions of devotees across India and the world into a common belief — attaining salvation, purifying the soul, and being part of something much greater than oneself. The history of the event is as deep as its spiritual significance, which dates back to ancient traditions that have survived for centuries. Every Kumbh Mela is a demonstration of human endurance, devotion, and unity beyond the barriers of caste, creed, and nationality.

The Maha Kumbh Mela, which is the largest and most significant of all Kumbh Melas, was held in 2025. It’s a momentous occasion marking a rare and extraordinary alignment of time and celestial bodies at a distance of 144 years. The article describes the deeper meaning behind the Kumbh Mela, its historical significance, the unique features of the 2025 Maha Kumbh, and the innovations that make this year’s event different.

The Kumbh Mela: The Heart of Hindu Spirituality

The Kumbh Mela traces its origins to an ancient myth involving a celestial battle over the nectar of immortality, known as “Amrit,” which was churned from the ocean of milk by gods and demons. According to ancient Hindu scripture, during this battle, drops of the Amrit fell at four places in India: Allahabad (Prayagraj), Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nashik. These places, known as the Tirthas, are now the sites of the Kumbh Mela, where devotees come to take a sacred dip in the holy rivers to purify themselves of their sins and achieve spiritual liberation.

Kumbh Mela traces its roots back to the ancient myth in which gods and demons churned the ocean of milk to create the nectar of immortality, known as “Amrit.” According to Hindu mythology, drops of this Amrit fell at four places in India, namely Allahabad, Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nashik. These sites are referred to as Tirthas. Nowadays, the same places host Kumbh Mela. It is a congregation where devotees throng for the sacred bath in the holy rivers to wash off their evil deeds and attain liberation from the world.

The Significance of Maha Kumbh Mela

Every Kumbh Mela is unique, but the Maha Kumbh Mela is the most significant of them all. Held once every twelve years, the Maha Kumbh is an event where the energy of the gathering and the divine convergence of celestial bodies are believed to be at their peak. The next Maha Kumbh takes place in 2025, and it is particularly special because it marks the rare 144-year cycle when the alignment of the planets, sun, and moon makes the event even more auspicious.

This is a rare configuration in the field of astrology and Hindu cosmology. The belief is that the celestial configuration of Maha Kumbh creates an ambiance of unparalleled spiritual energy, which enhances the power of holy waters at the Ganges, Yamuna, and all other rivers where pilgrims bathe. It is believed that when pilgrims bathe in these holy rivers during the Maha Kumbh, they would remove all their sinning issues and acquire liberation or ‘moksha’.

The Maha Kumbh is thus seen as the most auspicious moment for spiritual cleansing, making it a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many. In 2025, the riverbanks at Prayagraj (Allahabad), where the Kumbh Mela is hosted, witness millions of devotees coming together, connecting across time and space in a shared search for divine connection.

The 144-Year Cycle: A Cosmic Event

What makes the 2025 Maha Kumbh truly exceptional is its rare occurrence within the 144-year cycle. Historically, the Kumbh Mela has been held for centuries, but it is the rare alignment of the stars and planets in 2025 that makes this gathering even more auspicious. According to Hindu beliefs, this 144-year cycle signifies a unique convergence of energies, where the cosmic forces are in perfect alignment, magnifying the significance of the event.

This rare cycle is not just based on astrological charts but has been calculated through traditional Hindu astronomy. The celestial alignment, often described as a convergence of planetary positions, leads to the creation of a “sacred window” where spiritual energies are said to be more potent. The event’s rarity makes it even more meaningful for those who attend, and many devotees view this as an opportunity to be part of something extraordinary, an event that transcends time and space.

What was New in the 2025 Kumbh Mela?

As we experience the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela, several new features and innovations were introduced to enhance the experience for devotees and to manage the massive crowds more efficiently. The Kumbh Mela is, without a doubt, one of the largest gatherings in the world, with millions of people coming together to take part in the rituals, processions, and offerings. To manage such an immense scale, technology and infrastructure have been upgraded, ensuring the event is both spiritually enriching and safe.

Digital Transformation

The most important development in the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela is the use of advanced technology. A “digital Kumbh” also makes use of mobile apps and other online media to help devotees with timely information. Through these digital resources, pilgrims are enlightened about the places of camps, bathing schedules, and updates on crowd management. They also help find spiritual leaders, accommodations, and other facilities, so the event is more accessible for people coming from all corners of the globe.

For the first time, an online registration system allows pilgrims to register in advance, helping with crowd control and reducing long lines. The use of biometric systems also ensures that the pilgrims’ safety and security are paramount during such a large gathering.

Improved Infrastructure

The infrastructure at Prayagraj is massively upgraded to be able to hold the millions attending the Maha Kumbh Mela in 2025. Improvements include newer temporary housing facilities and better sanitation, in addition to convenient transportation to ensure the experience for the pilgrims goes smoothly. Pilgrims benefit from the proper roads, more bridges, and public transport as well. The camps planned for temporary uses and sanitation, keeping hygiene and comfort in mind, offer much-needed facilities to people arriving there.

Sustainable Practices

Sustainability features very prominently in the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela. Because this is such a massive event, with so many devotees attending, the environment and its disposal are crucial focus areas. Green practices are used with measures of waste segregation and recycling; eco-friendly material usage is another initiative. Efforts are undertaken to preserve the river and surroundings so that such a spiritual congregation does not prove detrimental to these fragile ecosystems within the region.

Spiritual and Cultural Programs

Several sacred rituals blend old culture with some innovative practices on 2025 Kumbh Mela, for instance. Rituals consist of sacred baths with performances for religious discourses and yoga practices combined with culture show events that hail India for her great, rich religious diversity alongside her platform. The major attraction of Kumbh Mela is the presence of all kinds of sadhus, saints, and spiritual leaders from around the world; their participation becomes vital as people from all across India and even the world unite in one place. This once again reflects the unity and inclusivity that Kumbh Mela stands for.

The Pilgrims’ Experience: Faith in Action

The experience of the Kumbh Mela is impossible to express in words. For most devotees, it marks the highest point of their spiritual journey. It is once in a lifetime and carries personal and collective importance. It is a time for renewing one’s faith, letting go of worldly attachments, and reconnecting with the divine. The processions, prayers, and rituals create a deep sense of community, as people from all walks of life come together to share in the collective energy of devotion.

The sacred dip in the river is the most powerful moment of the Kumbh Mela. It’s a form of purification where one washes away the past, sins are removed, and there is rebirth in the spirit. For most people, it is an extremely transformative act: an expression of hope, faith, and devotion. The Kumbh Mela is not only a pilgrimage; it’s a celebration of life and spirituality, where the ordinary becomes extraordinary.

As we experience the Maha Kumbh in 2025, we are reminded of the enduring power of faith, unity, and community. This year is even more special because it marks the rare 144-year cycle, which has never been seen before and, hence, a rare convergence of cosmic forces. With new technological innovations, better infrastructure, and a focus on sustainability, the Kumbh Mela of 2025 is a harmonious blend of the ancient and the modern, offering pilgrims a truly unforgettable journey of faith, unity, and discovery.

In the end, Kumbh Mela is a reminder of how, whatever our place of origin and beliefs, we all belong to a larger interconnected world where the search for spiritual enlightenment and unity links us to the human experience.

It is the grand opening of the Ram Mandir, a temple dedicated to Lord Ram, the revered deity of Hinduism. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to open the Ram Temple for devotees in a grand inauguration ceremony.

This momentous occasion holds great significance not only for devotees but also for the country as a whole. Let me give you a glimpse into the future and learn about the history, facts, and excitement surrounding the upcoming inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya in January 2024.

The Historical Importance of Ayodhya and Ram Mandir

Ayodhya, a city in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India, holds immense historical and cultural significance in the hearts of millions of people. Known as the birthplace of Lord Ram, it has been a focal point of devotion for Hindus for centuries. The construction of the Ram Mandir, a temple dedicated to Lord Ram, has been a long-awaited dream for devotees.

The historical importance of Ayodhya lies in its connection to the epic Ramayana, which tells the story of Lord Ram’s life and his journey to defeat the demon king, Ravana. According to an ancient Hindu scripture, Lord Ram was born in Ayodhya, making it one of the most sacred places for Hindus around the world.

The dispute over the land where the Ram Mandir stands today has been a topic of contention for decades. According to the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India), the Babri Masjid, a mosque, was built by the barbaric Mugual king on top of the Hindu Temple. The group of archaeologists that conducted the initial excavation at the Babri Masjid in 1976–1977 included KK Muhammad, a former regional director of the North Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). He said in one of the interviews that there is enough evidence from archaeology to suggest there was a large temple located beneath the Babri Mosque. According to him, Muslims ought to freely cede the land at Ayodhya.

Unfortunately, no decision was made until 2019. In 2019, after years of legal battles, the Supreme Court of India finally ruled in favor of constructing the Ram Mandir at the disputed site.

The construction of the Ram Mandir is not just a religious project but also a symbol of unity and harmony. It signifies the coming together of people from different walks of life to celebrate a shared heritage and belief. The temple will serve as a spiritual center, attracting pilgrims and tourists from all over the world.

As we look ahead to the grand opening of the Ram Mandir in January 2024, it is important to remember the historical importance of Ayodhya and the significance of this moment for devotees. The completion of the temple is not only a testament to the devotion of millions but also a step towards preserving and celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage.

The Architectural Grandeur of the Ram Mandir

The Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is not just a temple, but a symbol of architectural grandeur that will awe and inspire visitors from around the world. The magnificent structure is designed to showcase the rich heritage and cultural significance of Lord Ram.

The temple’s architectural style is deeply rooted in the traditional Nagara style of Hindu temple architecture. Its towering shikharas, intricately carved pillars, and stunning sculptures depict scenes from the Ramayana, bringing the epic story to life. The temple complex will span over an expansive area, allowing ample space for devotees to offer their prayers and participate in religious rituals.

Unveiling the Facts About the Ram Mandir

The Ram Mandir is a highly significant Hindu temple and a site steeped in both historical and religious importance. Its journey to realization has been long and complex, marked by legal battles, social discourse, and ultimately, a sense of hope and unity for many Hindus.

Here’s a closer look at some key facts about the Ram Mandir:

Temple’s dimensions and seating
The temple space is 54,700 square feet, or around 2.7 acres of land. With a total area of around 70 acres, the Ram Mandir Complex would have enough space to accommodate one million worshippers at a time.

Stone of Bansi Paharpur Sands
The rare pink marble stone known for its strength and beauty, Rajasthan Bansi Paharpur stone, will be cut to form the superstructure of the Ram Mandir. Four lakh square feet of stone would be needed in total.

The pink and red Bansi Paharpur Sandstone can be found in the Bayana Tehsil of the Bharatpur District in Rajasthan. In 2021, the center reversed the mining prohibition imposed in 2016 and granted, in principle, authority to turn 398 hectares of protected forest land into revenue land for the purpose of mining pink sandstone in the Band Baretha Wildlife Sanctuary in Bharatpur.

More details about Mandir

The Ram Mandir’s measurements are 161 feet high, 235 feet broad, and 360 feet long. The temple will be three times as tall as the tallest extant building in the ancient city.

Floors: The mandir will have one 161-foot-tall tower and five domes. The three-story temple’s centerpiece, Garbh Griha, is designed to let sunlight shine on the idol of Ram Lalla, the Lord’s newborn incarnation. The Keertan Mandap, Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, and the two Prarthana Mandaps on either side would be open spaces, but the Griha Mandap, like the sanctorum, would be completely covered.

The idol: There are going to be two Lord Ram idols. One will be the idol, which has been in the tent for decades since being discovered in 1949. The project manager for the construction of the Ram Mandir, Jagdish Afle, says the other would be a massive statue that can be seen from a great distance.

The bell of the temple: A 2,100-kg bell for the Ram Temple was transported from Etah, one of India’s most prominent bell-making locations. The cost of the 5-foot-wide and 6-foot-tall bell is Rs 21 lakh.

The temple is being constructed by Larsen & Toubro, one of the top-rated Indian engineering companies, on a 2.67-acre plot inside a 70-acre complex. 40 million resident Indians have donated towards the project, which has an estimated cost of $181 million. In the initial months, an estimated 100,000 devotees are anticipated to visit the shrine every day.

Sacred Soil in 2587 Areas
The foundation design of the Ayodhya Ram temple, which was created with sacred soil from 2587 places, is among its most intriguing features. Its foundation is derived, for example, from locations such as Jhansi, Bithoori, Yamunotri, Haldighati, Chittorgarh, Shivaji’s Fort, the Golden Temple, and numerous other sacred sites.

The biggest temple in India
Based on its architectural plan, Ram Mandir is expected to be the biggest temple in all of India. The Sompura family, who designed the temple, also said that Ashish Sompura, Chandrakant’s son, created the design thirty years ago. The family said that the temple is 28,000 square feet in size and rises to a height of about 161 feet.

Temporal Relic Beneath the Temple
Authorities plan to bury a time capsule beneath the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Temple, about 2000 feet below the surface. The time capsule’s exclusive goal is to preserve the temple’s identity so that it won’t be forgotten in the future. The capsule will contain pertinent information about Lord Ram, Ram Mandir, and Ayodhya, the place of his birth, written on a copper plate.

Holy water from 150 holy rivers throughout India
A unique holy water with a foundation layout, consisting of holy water from 150 holy rivers throughout India, was used in the sacred rite on August 5. Shabd Vaigyanik Mahakavi Triphala and Radhey Shyam Pandey, two brothers, are the source of this mix of river waters. This holy water is a concoction of eight rivers, three seas, and Sri Lankan soils. There was also Mansarovar water added to the mixture. The holy water mixture also included river water from Myntang and Myntdu, as well as water from a 600-year-old Durga Temple in the West Jaintia Hills.
Iron and steel are not used in construction.

It has been reported that Ram Mandir will be built entirely of stones. The temple will not be constructed out of steel or iron. Even the construction project supervisor, Anu Bhai Sompura, stated that other materials like copper, white cement, and wood will be utilized in place of iron.

Magnificent Elements in Temple Architecture

The design structure will show Lord Ram’s Darbaar on the first floor. The use of pink sandstone from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur, known as Bansi Paharpur, in the temple’s construction is one of its most distinctive aspects. Furthermore, 360 pillars will be constructed in the Nagar style.

Ten acres will be used for temple construction out of the 57 acres that will make up the temple complex. The Ram Mandir would be surrounded by four small temples that would make up the remaining lands.

Bricks Used in Building
Another interesting fact is that special bricks with the inscription “Shri Ram” will be used to construct the temple. Throughout the course of thirty years, some of these bricks have not been used; that is why they have been named Ram Shilas. Meanwhile, a brick owner at UP has donated a unique batch of bricks. The bricks in the batch follow a specific recipe from Domath Soil and are engraved with Lord Ram’s name. 51,000 of these 3 kg bricks will be donated to the construction of the Ayodhya Ram mandir.

Extra Cash for Temple Town Renovation
In Ayodhya, Ram Mandir leaves a lasting impression. A location that, for those who were unaware of it previously, will now leave a lasting impression. There are rumors that the entire town will undergo renovations. PM Modi is prepared to unveil development projects valued at 500 crores, starting with new developments and other initiatives.

Talking about a film on Swami Vivekananda on his birthday would be not only most appropriate but also symbolic and impactful. Swami ji’s birthday, which falls on January 12, is celebrated as National Youth Day in India, reflecting his enduring influence on the youth and his teachings on strength, vigor, and spirituality.

In 1893, Vivekananda, an Indian spiritual guru, attended a conference hosted by the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago and gave a historical speech. His opening words, “Sisters and Brothers of America,” won him a standing ovation. It would delve into his teachings, his interactions with other religious leaders, and the lasting impact of his work. Furthermore, in his speech, Vivekananda introduced Hinduism to America and called for an end to fanaticism and religious intolerance. He also desThe present conventioncribed yoga as a “science of the mind” and translated Yogic texts from Sanskrit into English.

Swami Vivekananda brought the wisdom of ancient India to America in 1893 through the practice of yoga. The American fabric has not undergone such a drastic transformation since the advent of Columbus, according to several conference attendees. Over the past 100 years, yoga has steadily become more and more ingrained in Western culture. This can be seen in movies like Star Wars and The Matrix, music from bands like Coldplay and the Beatles, literature ranging from Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World to countless best-selling self-help books promoting mindfulness and meditation, the use of Ayurvedic medicine, the rise in popularity of athleisure clothing, and the fact that there is a yoga studio on every Main Street in the United States.

Presenting the life and legacy of Swami Vivekananda, 1893: YEAR OF THE YOGI is a colorful animated film that combines historical video and interviews with influential figures in athletics, music, film, and religion. In keeping with Vivekananda’s central theme of inclusivity, the movie incorporates quotes from a wide range of writings, lectures, and letters that highlight how yoga is a popular choice for a variety of audiences. The narrative of the film is elevated by the aural tapestry created by modern Western artists that draws inspiration from ancient tradition and classical Indian music, which includes works by Swami himself. The best times for introspection and personal development are during difficult times, and 1893: YEAR OF THE YOGI, an artistic continuation of Vivekananda’s work, fulfills this purpose.

Nicholas Oscoff’s directorial venture, “1893: The Year of the Yogi,” promises to be a significant contribution to the cinematic exploration of yoga’s profound impact on Western culture. The film traces the historical roots of yoga’s journey to the West, particularly emphasizing Swami Vivekananda’s pivotal role in introducing the ancient Indian philosophy to American society.

Director Nicholas Oscoff expressed his personal views in a video interview with Indic Dialogue: “Meet the filmmakers of the upcoming movie “1893: The Year of the Yogi.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1M0OCpszF4

Nicholas talked about his personal journey, fueled by a fascination with Indian philosophy and spirituality, which has evidently shaped the narrative of this documentary. His multicultural background and extensive travels, including repeated visits to India, seem to have deepened his understanding and connection to the subject matter. This personal resonance with the spiritual teachings of the East, paired with his professional background in international affairs and the film industry, positions him uniquely to tell this story.

Here are some key points I found particularly interesting from Nicholas’s interview:

Personal journey: Oscoff describes his own early exposure to Indian philosophy through Deepak Chopra’s books, highlighting the initial spark that led him to explore India and its spiritual traditions.

Cultural bridge: He mentions his multicultural upbringing with Egyptian and Italian roots, which likely contributed to his understanding of bridging Eastern and Western perspectives.

Spiritual home: Oscoff speaks of India as his spiritual home and how being born in America allows him to “live with one foot in the East and one in the West.” This personal connection likely adds depth and authenticity to the film.

Encounter with Sri Ramakrishna: The director’s introduction to Ramakrishna through a biography becomes a pivotal moment in his spiritual journey, leading him to further explore Vivekananda’s teachings.

The film’s focus on Swami Vivekananda, a key figure in bringing Eastern spirituality to Western consciousness, reflects a thoughtful approach to making this profound subject accessible and engaging to a Western audience. The inclusion of animation and interviews with leading Swamis suggests a rich, multi-dimensional exploration of the topic.

Here are some key points you are going to find in this historic documentary movie:

Untold origin story: It emphasizes the film’s focus on showcasing Swami Vivekananda’s lesser-known role in introducing yoga to the West and the transformative impact he had.

Interviews with diverse voices: The inclusion of interviews with leaders from various fields, including music, sports, and religion, promises a multifaceted perspective on Vivekananda’s teachings and their contemporary relevance.

Archival footage and animation: The utilization of both archival footage and animation suggests a dynamic approach to storytelling, potentially making the film engaging for a wider audience.

Historical accuracy: The webpage highlights the film’s commitment to historical accuracy, which is crucial for portraying Vivekananda’s life and impact with integrity.

“1893: The Year of the Yogi” not only aims to narrate the historical significance of yoga’s arrival in the West but also seeks to highlight the ongoing influence of Eastern spirituality on various aspects of Western culture, from popular entertainment to personal wellness practices.

This exceptional documentary movie focusing on Swami Vivekanand’s journey to the US is anticipated to be released in 2024, and its call for community support underlines its collaborative and timely nature. It seems to be more than just a film; it’s an invitation to participate in a cultural and spiritual dialogue, one that Oscoff envisions continuing through future projects rooted in Indian Dharma.

Overall, “1893: The Year of the Yogi” appears to be a promising and enlightening cinematic journey, offering insights into the cross-cultural exchange that has shaped modern spiritual perspectives.

It fills my heart with joy unspeakable to rise in response to the warm and cordial welcome which you have given us. I thank you in the name of the most ancient order of monks in the world; I thank you in the name of the mother of religions; and I thank you in the name of millions and millions of Hindu people of all classes and sects. My thanks, also, to some of the speakers on this platform who, referring to the delegates from the Orient, have told you that these men from far-off nations may well claim the honor of bearing to different lands the idea of toleration.

I am proud to belong to a religion which has taught the world both tolerance and universal acceptance. We believe not only in universal toleration, but we accept all religions as true. I am proud to belong to a nation which has sheltered the persecuted and the refugees of all religions and all nations of the earth. I am proud to tell you that we have gathered in our bosom the purest remnant of the Israelites, who came to the Southern India and took refuge with us in the very year in which their holy temple was shattered to pieces by Roman tyranny.

I am proud to belong to the religion which has sheltered and is still fostering the remnant of the grand Zoroastrian nation. I will quote to you, brethren, a few lines from a hymn which I remember to have repeated from my earliest boyhood, which is every day repeated by millions of human beings: As the different streams having their sources in different places all mingle their water in the sea, so, O Lord, the different paths which men take through different tendencies, various though they appear, crooked or straight, all lead to Thee.

The present convention, which is one of the most august assemblies ever held, is in itself a vindication, a declaration to the world, of the wonderful doctrine preached in the Gita: Whosoever comes to Me,through whatsoever form, I reach him, all men are struggling through paths which in the end lead to Me, Sectarianism, bigotry, and it’s horrible descendant, fanaticism, have long possessed this beautiful earth. They have filled the earth with violence, drenched it often and often with human blood, destroyed civilization, and sent whole nations to despair. Had it not been for these horrible demons, human society would be far more advanced than it is now. But their time is come; and I fervently hope that the bell that tolled this morning in honor of this convention may be the death-knell of all fanaticism, of all persecutions with the sword or with the pen, and of all uncharitable feelings between persons wending their way to the same goal.

Some of you may know that Aruna and I visited India early this year.
In this article let me talk about one more very interesting thing we did while we were in India. Desh-Videsh Media Group hosted a Poetry Contest at one of the high schools. The subject was Prime Minister Modi.

The rules of this contest were as follows,

The format of the poetry must be a quatrain, which consists of four lines in each stanza. The rhyme scheme of this poem will be AABB, meaning that the first and second lines of each stanza rhyme with each other, as do the third and fourth lines.

Poem must adhere to basic rules of capitalization.

Do not type poem in all capital letters.

Only capitalize words that are proper (i.e. names and places).

The first word of each line may be capitalized.

Do not use “texting” lingo. Properly spell out all words.

A Man of Humble Beginnings

In the land of India, there rose a leader bold
A man of humble beginnings, yet with a heart of gold
His name was Narendra Modi, a man of great renown
Who climbed the ladder of success, from a small town

He served his country with all his might
With a vision in his heart, and a goal in sight
There was a leader named Modi,
With equality in his sound.

He sought to bring together,
Over the other in sight,

With open arms he welcomed

And so he worked tirelessly,
Without any bias or lust.

For Modi knew that in diversity,
Lies the beauty of a nation,
And providing equal rights to all,

Though I have lived in India for a long time, there are still issues here that I find hard to understand. For example, why do so many educated Indians become agitated when India is referred to as a Hindu country? The majority of Indians are Hindus. India is special because of its ancient Hindu tradition. Westerners are drawn to India because of Hinduism. Why then is there this resistance by many Indians to acknowledge the Hindu roots of their country? Why do some people even give the impression that an India which valued those roots would be dangerous? Don’t they know better?

This attitude is strange for two reasons. First, those educated Indians have a problem only with “Hindu” India, but not with “Muslim” or “Christian” countries. Germany, for example, is a secular country, and only 49 percent of the population are registered with the two big Christian churches (Protestant and Catholic). Nevertheless, the country is bracketed under “Christian countries” and no one objects. Angela Merkel, the former Chancellor, had stressed the ‘Christian roots of Germany’ and had urged the population “to go back to Christian values.” In 2012 she even postponed her trip to the G-8 summit to make a public address at the Katholikentag, “Catholics Day.” Two major German political parties carry “Christian” in their name, including Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union.

Germans are not incensed that Germany is called a Christian country, though I actually would understand if they were. After all, the history of the Church is appalling. The so-called success story of Christianity depended greatly on tyranny. “Convert or die” were the options given—not only some five hundred years ago to the indigenous population in America, but also in Germany, 1,200 years ago, when Emperor Karl the Great ordered the death sentence for refusal of baptism in his newly conquered realms. This provoked his advisor Alkuin to comment: “One can force them to baptism, but how to force them to believe?”

Those times, when one’s life was in danger for dissenting with the dogmas of Christianity, are thankfully over. Today many in the West dissent and are leaving the Church in a steady stream. They are disgusted with the unholy behavior of Church officials and they also can’t believe in the dogmas, for example that “Jesus is the only way” and that God sends all those, who don’t accept this claim, to hell.

The second reason why I can’t understand the resistance to associate India with Hinduism is that Hinduism is in a different category from the Abrahamic religions. Its history, compared to Christianity and Islam, was undoubtedly the least violent as it spread in ancient times by convincing arguments and not by force. It is not a belief-system that demands blind acceptance of dogmas and the suspension of one’s intelligence. On the contrary, “Hinduism encourages using one’s intelligence to the hilt. It is an inquiry into truth, based on a refined character and intellect. It comprises a huge body of ancient literature, not only regarding dharma and philosophy, but also regarding mathematics, architecture, music, dance, science, astronomy, economics, politics, etc.”

If Germany or any other Western country had this kind of literary treasure, they would be so proud and highlight its greatness on every occasion. When I discovered the Upanishads, for example, I was stunned. Here was expressed in clear terms what I intuitively had felt to be true, but could not have expressed clearly: Brahman is not partial; it is the invisible, indivisible Essence in everything. Everyone gets again and again a chance to discover the ultimate Truth and is free to choose his way back to it. Helpful hints are given but not imposed.

In my early days in India, I thought every Indian knew and valued his tradition. Slowly I realized I was wrong. The British colonial masters had been successful in not only weaning away many of the elite from their ancient tradition but even making them despise it. It helped that the British-educated class could no longer read the original Sanskrit texts and believed what the British told them. This lack of knowledge and the brainwashing by British education may be the reason why many so-called “ “modern” Indians are against anything Hindu. They don’t realize the difference between Western religions that have to be believed blindly, and which discourage, if not forbid, their adherents to think on their own, and the multi-layered Hindu Dharma which gives freedom and encourages using one’s intelligence. “

Many of India’s educated class do not realize that those who dream of imposing Christianity or Islam on this vast country will applaud them for denigrating Hindu Dharma, because this creates a vacuum where Western ideas can easier gain a foothold.

At the same time, many Westerners, including staunch Christians, know the value of Hindu culture and surreptitiously appropriate insights from the vast Indian knowledge system, drop the original Hindu source and present it either as their own or make it look as if these insights had already been known in the West.

As the West appropriates valuable and exclusive Hindu assets, what it leaves behind is deemed inferior. Unwittingly, these ‘modern’ Indians are helping what Rajiv Malhotra of Infinity Foundation calls the digestion of Dharma civilization into Western universalism. That which is being digested, a deer for example (analogue to Hindu Dharma), disappears whereas the tiger (analogue to Western Universalism) becomes

If only missionaries denigrated Hindu Dharma, it would not be so bad, as they clearly have an agenda which discerning Indians would detect. But sadly, Indians with Hindu names assist them because they wrongly believe Hinduism is inferior to Western religions. They belittle everything Hindu instead of getting in-depth knowledge. As a rule, they know little about their tradition except what the British have deceptively taught them, i.e., that the major features are the caste system and idol worship. They don’t realize that India would gain, not lose, if it solidly backed its profound and all-inclusive Hindu tradition.

The Dalai Lama said some time ago that, as a youth in Lhasa, he had been deeply impressed by the richness of Indian thought. “India has great potential to help the world,” he added.

Will the Westernized Indian elite realize it?

Editor’s note

It has been 75 years since we have lost our beloved Gandhi ji. On January 30th, 1948, Godse assassinated Gandhi ji, the most well-known proponent of nonviolence in the world. This tragedy serves as a reminder that the road to independence was not easy and that there will always be people who seek to sow conflict and division. Where there is extremist ideology, innocent people will always be killed.

Here is an article by Dr. Mohini Shinde, Hindu Scholar who was born and finished high school and college education from the same town as Nathuram Godse, who killed Gandhi ji.

Please read her views on Gandhi’s assassination.

I pray to god that I am reborn with Gandhi so that I can kill him again.” Nathuram Godse, the man who, in a cruel twist of irony, brought about a violent end to the most prominent advocate of nonviolence in the world, said as much. He said this calmly, like a man who fully believed in his ideas and was assured of his conduct, rather than with a raging passion that clouded his judgment. Nathuram Godse was a violent, murderous, and fanatical religious fanatic. a man who invoked passages from the Bhagavad Gita to defend his behavior. A man who undermined all India and Hinduism stood for, including tolerance, democracy, and secularism. Certainly, let’s construct a temple for him!

Religious fanaticism in our day and age is a danger to world peace. We support the idea of religious acceptance. We issue strongly worded declarations denouncing the Taliban and ISIS. We have read carefully written essays warning against combining politics and religion. We are thoughtful, contemporary people who prefer to imagine secularism as an ethereal good circling above our heads.

But repressed demons have emerged from our murky underbelly and entered primary school textbooks, public statements, and parliamentary debates. The webs of restraint that had held it all together are being broken by wheels that have been set in action and are silently whirling. State legitimacy is being conferred on voices that require opposition. Due to the allure of the future, we are currently being forced backwards.

Mahatma Gandhi was a symbol as well as a human being. He spread the value of nonviolence throughout the world. He forced the colonial powers to submit via shame. He had faith in humanity and the idea of a tolerant people bound together by the concept of India.

He had faith in something more profound than religion. Sadly, once the British Empire faded into history, politics underwent a dramatic change in nature that made it difficult to tame. In his later years, Gandhi was a lonesome man, engaged in a solitary conflict, and battling for a philosophy.

India hadn’t yet accepted its own identity. The wall of solidarity that had expelled our oppressors has developed communal fissures. Hindu radicals viewed Gandhi as a traitor to Hindus, who were ‘his people’ by accident of birth. Instead of giants, there were groups of irate minions fighting. Gandhi was trampled by the ants at his feet because he held fast to a higher ideal.

Famously, Godse emphasized his admiration for Gandhi’s integrity. He was a failed politician, he said, but “I used to admire him as a saint because he always told the truth, which was not easy.” He was at conflict with Gandhi’s philosophy. And shooting him over it was acceptable. Godse rationalized murder by giving it a reason and a lofty objective. Godse committed terrorism.

He felt alone and distant immediately after the murder. He had been a member of the RSS and the Hindu Mahasabha, both of which he had derived inspiration from, and both of which went to great measures to distance themselves from possibly the most despised man in the nation at the time. Later, Gopal Godse, his own brother, confirmed to the fact that Savarkar and the RSS were not entirely blameless for the conspiracy.

Nathuram Godse never quit the RSS, he revealed. A Hindu Mahasabha member named Digambar Badge testified against Savarkar, whose approval, he claimed, allowed the Mahatma to be killed.

Today marks 67 years since the murder of our country’s founding father in broad daylight. Faces are coming out of the shadows, and in a nation governed by positive forces, they now have the audacity to finally reveal who they really are. Faces are coming out of the shadows, and in a nation governed by positive forces, they now have the audacity to finally reveal who they really are.

Hindu radicals from all over the nation have been celebrating November 15 as “Maryrdom Day” since Godse’s hanging on that day. In Maharashtra, plays that praise Godse’s crime play to full audiences. Everything has now come to light in the open.

The Hindu Mahasabha is preparing to step up its operations by bringing Godse’s philosophy of religious hatred to Hindu temples across the nation after the Uttar Pradesh state police foiled their attempts to construct statues of Godse at many designated locations. “We have a committed group of young people who are filled with nationalistic zeal and who are willing to risk being arrested to erect Godse’s statue at the Raj Ghat, but we don’t want to operate that way. A leader of the Hindu Mahasabha stated, “We simply want to promote the concept of ‘Akhand bharat’ (united India), which was Nathuram Godse ji’s primary goal.

What message are we conveying when we elevate a terrorist? When so many of our nation’s great leaders have statues in their honor at the very least, why should a temple be constructed for Godse, a murderer? Will the murderer of Gandhi’s words soon be found in the literature that our children read in school? Will his radical program get more supporters and emerge?

What distinguishes one terrorist act from another? If Godse had been a Muslim, would he have been hailed as a martyr? We must comprehend that terrorism is not a religious issue. Whatever the motivation, murder is never justified, and this is something we must all realize.

The way to do it is definitely not by constructing temples. How deep will we go before the darkness engulfs us and suffocates us?

The land of the great king Bharat, known as Bharat, now widely known as India is a mystical land. Every Indian, from this auspicious land, at our core, we are born with the hint of Sanatan Dharma based faith and spirituality. While the level of intensity varies, mostly, one or another way, we Indians stay connected to our Santana ways of life. One side effect of this life is that many times it is being misinterpreted that only those who are in need, who are miserable and those who cannot fight their battles in this world turn to Spirituality. You will rarely see younger generation engaged in Spiritual way of life, a Sanatan way of life. Those who “Have” things, and believe themselves as “Happy”, forget the true and very essential reason of our original value and faith-based Sanatan way of life, which will allow us ‘Brahmanand’. There is a reason.

But first, we must understand the difference between what we call ‘Happiness’ and what our scriptures describe as ‘Brahmanand’ or ‘Param Anand’. At the bottom most level of this incremental level of happiness is the day-to-day worldly happiness we enjoy through our senses. It is also known as ‘VishayAnand’, but for the sake of simplicity, we will call it ‘Happiness’. At the top, is the happiness in its purest form, which arises from God, is termed as ‘Brahmanand’ or ‘Param Anand’. Let’s pick ‘Param Anand’. From the day we began to learn, understand, and hence dream, we all want our lives filled with happiness. The meaning of happiness and the means to happiness changes as we grow in this world, but the endeavor remains ongoing till we die.

Many people live their entire life mimicking what others seem to do and live a happy life, but a few, those who ask questions and those who seek deeper meaning of our human life, search for true happiness that is filled with peace and sense of satisfaction. And that becomes the quality of one’s life, eventually. Those who have embarked on this journey to experience the highest level of happiness, known as ‘Param Anand’, almost every person leans towards a spiritual way of life. They see a need for different perspectives and lenses to see and experience the world. They don’t necessarily give up their prized possessions or comforts of the current materialistic life, but they learn & understand that all those THINGS matter less and less. What matters more and more gets revealed to them through this experience where they experience a much more powerful and satisfying ‘Param Anand’ in life that is lived based on the values and faith.

Now, for them the entire equation of happiness changes. Deep craving of spirituality and the need of faith-based life grows more and more in them. These awakened souls continue to turn towards this value and faith-based life that Spirituality offers.

One such soul was, one of India’s most loved, admired and globally recognized Scientist, President and People’s leader, Dr. A P J Kalam. He was at the top of his game, one may say, in 2001, as a principal scientific adviser of the Government of India. A man of science, who lived his entire life working with Energy, observing the power of it and absorbing the universal effect of it on people, nation and probably himself, as well. He was, undoubtedly, the best in his field in India, and recognized internationally as a man of Science and Principles. Dr. Kalam did not know who Pramukh Swami Maharaj was, until he met him as a result of a very interesting incident that took place in the wake of the Earthquake that struck Bhuj in Gujarat in 2001.

Kalam recalls this incident in the book “Transcendence”, which he wrote as a result of his experiences with Pramukh Swami Maharaj. Kalam recalls, “I met Pramukh Swamiji, my ultimate teacher, unwittingly. Fate and my curiosity had drawn me to him. Earlier, as principal scientific advisor to the Government of India, I had visited Bhuj to review the rehabilitation work in the aftermath of the earthquake. There, on 15 March 2001, I met Sadhu Brahmaviharidas, a disciple of Pramukh Swamiji. He asked me a startling question which elicited a spiritual response. He asked: ‘After the detonation of the first atomic bomb, Robert Oppenheimer remembered the Gita: “Time I am the shatterer of the world”. What came to your mind after you detonated India’s first atomic bomb? I was puzzled by this question, and said, ‘The energy of God does not shatter, it unifies, ‘ to which he replied, ‘Our spiritual leader, Pramukh Swami Maharaj, is a great unifier. He has unified all our energies to regenerate and restore life from the rubble of damage.

I was moved and expressed my desire to meet such a swami. What began as a chance introduction became a divine destiny.“

Kalam thought that he was going to meet a Sadhu, Spiritual Head of BAPS. Just like when Narendra was to meet Ramakrishna Paramhansa at the Dakshineswar Mandir, not realizing who was Ramakrishna and not realizing that his life was going to be upgraded, enhanced to a higher level of experience, Dr. Kalam did not anticipate the profound impact this first meeting will have on his life and future. 14 years after this meeting, Kalam writes, Pramukh Swamiji put me in the God Synchronous Orbit.

Kalam saw something different in Pramukh Swami Maharaj. Pramukh Swami Maharaj was Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s fifth spiritual successor. As a true spiritual entity on this earth, Aksharbrahm. He was the president of the BAPS and loved by millions beyond one’s imagination.

Kalam called Pramukh Swamiji his “Ultimate Teacher” who put him in God Synchronous orbit in just 14 years of his journey with him. In the book “Transcendence”, Kalam shared the insight he observed. “For many years, since I met Pramukh Swamiji in 2001, I wondered about his vision, his calmness, and the influence he has over hundreds of thousands of his devotees. Finally, I found the answer in the writings of Michio Kaku and Steven Weinberg. I realized that there is a fourth level of consciousness, wherein the consciousness of the self is transcended and becomes cosmic consciousness. When I see the majestic Akshardham temples, I see within them Pramukh Swamiji’s passionate commitment to transcendental values such as beauty, truth, wisdom, justice, charity, fidelity, joy, courage, and honor“. Kalam elaborates, “Expansion of one’s consciousness begins with fundamental Knowledge – understanding of one’s place in the universe, and the interconnectedness of all with the Divine.”

This is the fundamental way Pramukh Swamiji has transpired millions to live Spiritual life right from childhood, that is rooted in VALUES. Our core values help us fight with the corrupt elements of time and maintain a balance in life that allows us to continue our journey towards Param Anand.

With a value-based life, individuals develop stronger morals and character which results in a HOPE for better society. Such a person with a stronger character and moral life, is naturally drawn to do things that are beyond human capabilities. We start feeling the power of the divine that governs this universe, working with us, within us to enhance our life. This divine joy, ‘Param Anand’, sense of satisfaction is different, out of norm. Once cannot express it as just ‘Happiness’ or ‘Fun’, as it is way more than that and way above this plain flavor of Happiness.

This is FAITH & it is built upon the foundation of values and hope. In turn one realizes that it was all along their faith in the words of this Spiritual Beacon, a luminary like Pramukh Swamiji, that allowed them to see their own potential and develop faith in themselves to achieve the impossible. This is what Dr. Kalam saw in Pramukh Swamiji. A beacon of Value, Hope and Faith for our humanity. The spiritual master who leads his pupil to the ultimate ‘Param Anand’ in life.

These awakened souls can now differentiate between the worldly way of life where our life ends but the chase to happiness never ends and the spiritual way of life where one can constantly feel the sense of Param Anand, regardless of whether you have materialistic possessions or not.

Mandirs built by Pramukh Swamiji, provides the platform for youth activities, seminars and spiritual discourses. The lessons learned here equips us to identify and differentiate between what we can control and what we cannot control. This helps us to put our chase to glory, fame and riches in perspective.

I want to highlight 2 contrast comparisons.

Rafael Badziag, a contributor at CNBC asked 21 self-made billionaires about their biggest regrets—here are the 5 most common ones.

Grace Bluerock is a social worker in Murfreesboro, TN who has experience working with individuals in community settings as well as in the private practice setting. She is the author of “Live the Life of Your Dreams by Doing Work You Love”. Working in hospice care for six years, she shares 9 regrets expressed by hospice patients that can teach us how to live a better life.

They wish they had been more loving to the people who matter the most.

They wish they had been a better spouse, parent, or child.

They wish they had not spent so much time working.

They wish they had taken more risks.

They wish they had been happier and enjoyed life more.

They wish they had lived their dream.

They wish they had taken better care of themselves.

They wish they had done more for others.

They wish they had chosen more meaningful work.

Contrast is very evident at the end of life. Quite a stark view on what really matters towards the end of life. When I look around in the life of the most famous, influential, and powerful leaders, the story remains the same.

Aurangzeb, one of the most powerful Mogul who ruled over north India, had dying regrets.

“I came alone, and I went as a stranger. I do not know who I am, nor what I have been doing,” the dying old man confessed to his son in February 1707.”

Blinded by ambition that drove Napoleon to glory, power and riches, the broken little emperor was finally banished to St. Helena by his enemies whereupon he reportedly said, “I have never known six happy days in my life.”

One can argue that these were the emperors of old times, what about the current world we live in. We are all chasing that illusive dream.

Olga Rickards is an entrepreneur, author, speaker, and coach to high achievers.

She shared the insights of her over four decades of studies revealed what even the most successful people regret on their deathbed, and here is the list of some ugly truths that might give you shivers:

Most dying people regret not the things they did but the things they didn’t do.

They grieve over their dreams that have gone unfulfilled.

They wish they had not worked so hard.

They regret making money at the expense of relationships.

They wish they had taken the time to love more and to express their love.

They regret not staying in touch with friends and not giving friendships the time and effort they deserved.

They wish they had the courage to express their feelings instead of suppressing them.

They wish they had the courage to live a life true to themselves, not the life to fulfill somebody else’s expectations or to prove they are good enough.

Many of them confessed they never really knew themselves or weren’t clear on what they really wanted out of life.

Many of them said they felt as if they hadn’t really lived.

And here is a sobering fact: most dying people regret postponing their happiness to “one day”. Guess what? That day never came!

She poses the very obvious question though. Olga asks “Why do we invest so much of our limited time, energy, and money into our businesses, but not our own happiness? Well, simply put, most of us just don’t know how to create a happy, fulfilled, truly successful life. When you and I went to school, they taught us a lot of stuff we never use in real life, but they didn’t teach us what happiness and success really are about. Our degrees printed on fancy paper didn’t come with a Happy Life manual; we are left to figure it all out on our own.”

Spirituality helps here to bridge this gap. Pramukh Swamiji’s teaching of value-based life – “Immorality may give you great gains, but a dry piece of bread given with morality will guarantee peace of mind. Do not become lazy and negligent. Fruits obtained without effort do not give peace and joy. Do not be trapped by greed and superstition. Walking through life in consonance with instructions given by God will ensure that we are not met by unhappiness.” helps us see with a different lens.

Greatest advantage of such a Spiritual feeling is that any person on this earth, regardless of age and background, regardless of education and social status, can feel this Param Anand, when they are exposed to such spiritual wonders created by Pramukh Swamiji.

In Akshardham, at Gandhinagar, there is a light and sound water show, called ‘Sat-Chit-Anand Water show’, based on the famous story of ‘Nachiketa’ from our Upanishads. Thousands of visitors enjoy this immersive & enlightening show. Once a family of young children from the USA visited this show. One of their kids was a 9-year boy who enjoyed the show and as a curious kid, asked many questions to satisfy his curiosity to learn how this light and sound with fire in between can co-exist. The chief guide there, Nishithbhai, explained him the details with patience. Then the boy said, “It feels different here. I feel peace”. A powerful experience for such a young mind which may help him guide in his future to aim for true and achievable ‘Param Anand’.

Amitabh Bachchan, who does not need any introduction amongst any Indian, idolized by many and a legend of India. On December 5th, 2010, Amitabh Bachchan visited Gandhinagar Akshardham. After watching this ‘Sat-Chit-Anand Water Show’, he exclaimed “Adbhut, Adbhut, Adbhut“. He met the sadhus and volunteers who set up and operated the show. He also learned about how Pramukh Swamiji inspired this entire show and guided it to finish. Before leaving, he autographed the visitors book, “I have come to Akshardham for darshan many times, but in today’s experience my mind has experienced peace. And I have understood the truth about atma and Paramatma.”

After his visit, Shri Bachchan also wrote about his feelings regarding his visit on his daily personal blog :

But the day ended in another spectacular and amazing moment – a visit to the Akshardham Temple in Gandhi Nagar….The laser imagery on flowing fountains and building images on them with a story tale between Nachiket the son of a Saintly father that banishes him to YamRaj the disciple of Death, was a delight to watch. The deeper meanings of Atma and Parmatma were exquisitely woven into the …

Such a fulfilling experience and then to be able to speak on phone to Pramukh Swami ji, whom I have met on a few occasions, to seek his blessings, was an ideal end to the most, how should I put it, ethereal hours in a day.

Time after time, such experiences have been the triggers for many individuals to push themselves above and beyond our daily lives, and out of seeing worldly monotonous ways of life.

With the help of Pramukh Swamiji’s constant and readily available motherly nurturing in all three human needs- Physical needs, Mental Fights & the experience of power of Atma – they are pushed into what Kalam explains as the fourth level of consciousness.

I will now elaborate on the level four consciousness that I have observed in Pramukh Swamiji. Imagine that you are a two-dimensional being and that a fence has been created around you and what you want. It would appear as a rectangle. The only way to get what you want is by cutting through the fence, and so everything you cut through fences.

If you were suddenly given a three-dimensional consciousness, you would look from above at the two-dimensional rectangle and realize that you could simply reach in and take hold of what you want, and that the rectangle or fence was not an obstacle from this higher perspective. But you are still faced with obstacles and hurdles. It is not that things have been delivered on a platter to Pramukh Swami.

There have been problems, obstacles, resistance, even hostilities – but he never reacted to them. Why? Because he accessed an even higher level of consciousness.

The fourth dimension is a higher dimension of consciousness that comes through the divine connection. We are enveloped in a vast universe of light, consciousness, and love. We can reach upward to the higher parts of our being and access this source of inspiration, creative ideas, energy, wisdom, understanding and spiritual vision.

With a four-dimensional consciousness, we are in touch with our intuition: an infallible source of guidance and wisdom that leads to rightful action, good choices and decisions, harmonious relationships, and a sense of well-being. This is the consciousness that brings us all the resources we need in every moment and is the source of our abundance. Many blessed souls throughout the history of mankind could expand their consciousness into higher dimensions. Pramukh Swamiji is such a blessed soul.

Pramukh Swamiji has become part of the ocean of consciousness. With his blessings, thousands of his devotees have shifted from their old ways of blocking the true manifestation of their destiny. They have stopped trying to figure everything out; they have ceased trying to control and manipulate the universe into giving them what they want and put their aspiration and their trust in Pramukh Swamiji. They no longer think that having what they want is dependent upon someone else’s power or decisions. They no longer measure their progress or success in traditional cultural terms, but instead by their feeling of righteousness. They have realized that if they do not try to control things mentally, the universe will give to them more beautifully than what they could possibly have envisaged. Pramukh Swamiji has taught four generations of people to rise from within–and their rise has been phenomenal.“

What Kalam has observed in his 14 years of experience with Pramukh Swamiji, millions of followers are experiencing for many years. We are celebrating the centennial celebration of Pramukh Swami Maharaj – a beacon of Values, Hope and Faith on this earth who has enhanced all our lives. A grand celebration has been planned on December 10th, at FAU’s Performing Arts Auditorium of the Boca Raton campus. We would love to see you all there. Come and join us in this celebration of our life and culture.

Param Anand is waiting for you.
