Didi Krishna Kumari

Some people are born to inspire by being a source of motivation and a catalyst for social change. One among them is Krishna Kumari. Born on May 9, 1961,
Didi, as she is lovingly called, began her spiritual journey at the tender age of three under the aegis of two of the most prominent Saints of India, Sadhu T. L. Vaswani and Revered Dada J. P. Vaswani.

Didi is a mentor to multitudes, a light of hope to forlorn souls, an ocean of knowledge brimming with selfless love and care, a rock of strength in times of difficulty, a writer par excellence, and a much sought-after motivational speaker.

Didi’s guide and mentor, Dada J. P. Vaswani was a blend of many paradoxes: A man of science and religion, of pragmatism and timeless wisdom; truly, a man of head and heart. The way he seamlessly blended these traits made him unique and distinguished. A scientist, a visionary, a well-read scholar, an educationist, Dada spearheaded the Sadhu Vaswani Mission, a non-sectarian, social welfare institution located in Pune, India. He relentlessly spread his Master, Sadhu Vaswani’s message of love, compassion, simplicity, and service by his own living example. Furthering one of the Mission’s core tenets of ‘reverence for all,’ Dada popularized November 25th, Sadhu Vaswani’s birthday, as ‘International Meatless Day’ across the world. Didi Krishna Kumari is the current head of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission.

She is an expansion of Dada’s robust energy. The Sadhu Vaswani Mission operates 18 distinguished educational institutions across India as well as several multi-specialty medical institutions. Didi also oversees a network of over 60 spiritual centers in different parts of India and other major countries of the world, as well as numerous social and humanitarian projects. The institutions are service-oriented, progressive, and proactive, leaving a deep impact on their respective communities.

Her unique and inclusive style of leadership, informed by her deep-rooted spiritual and ethical values, motivates one-and-all to put in their best efforts, so that the Mission can do as much good as it can, in as many ways as it can.

“Growing up in the spiritual environment of the Mission, Didi attended St. Mira’s School in Pune, and subsequently received her degree in Commerce from St. Mira’s College. She completed her education with a double Master’s in Taxation and Company Law, with first-class honors, all while simultaneously serving Dada in various capacities.”

Didi accompanied Dada on all his journeys, in India and overseas, whether at the prestigious United Nations or in meetings with prominent statesmen and interfaith leaders. She served him and the Sadhu Vaswani Mission in the capacity of Working Chairperson until he passed on, into the Unseen, in July, 2018.

Didi continues to interact with distinguished personalities all over the world, spreading Dada’s message. She was recently invited to meet Shri Narendra Modi, the Honorable Prime Minister of India, who expressed deep interest in the Mission’s work, taking his valuable time to delve into its multifarious activities. Didi shared the Mission’s focus: Cultivation of the soul, selfless service, and character-building education.

Didi’s writings have captured many a heart. She is an author and a compiler of Dada’s inspirational talks, songs, and teachings. She is also the editor of the monthly East West Series magazine. Her works include, Rev. Dada J.P. Vaswani – His Life and Teachings, Dada J.P. Vaswani’s Historic Visit to Sindh and How to Embrace Pain. Her biography, Dada: A Messenger of Love, published by Pan Macmillan, takes an in-depth look at Dada’s extraordinary life.
Didi is creative and pragmatic in the way she conveys spiritual truths because of her deep desire to help others connect with God, and the message of her Spiritual Masters. She is a remarkable speaker whose talks appeal to individuals from all walks of life. Her practical suggestions give individuals the authority to rewrite their life’s story to achieve desirable outcomes. She encourages her audience to progress on their spiritual journeys one small step at a time, offering healing and hope to countless weary souls.

“In the new unfolding of India’s destiny, women have to play an important part. The woman-soul will lead us upward, on!” said Sadhu Vaswani. Dada Vaswani believed, “The man-made world in which we have lived till now (the patriarchal society) must give way to a new world order made by women. It is then that the masculine forces of aggression, violence, strife, and intolerance will give way to a new age of peace, harmony, and beauty, ushering in the new Satya Yuga (Era of Truth) for all humanity.” Didi Krishna Kumari embodies the prophecies of these great teachers of humanity, to whom she has dedicated her life, by way of furthering their legacy.
