Emraan Hashmi Begins Filming Awarapan 2 in Bangkok
Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has officially commenced filming for what many are calling the most anticipated project of his career — Awarapan 2. The sequel is being directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced under the banner of Vishesh Films. The first schedule of the shoot is currently underway in Bangkok, and the makers gave fans an early glimpse through Instagram. A nostalgic first on-set photo of the Muhurat clap was shared, accompanied by the caption, “Tera Mera Rishta Purana bro @emraanhashmi …”, instantly sparking excitement among longtime fans of the franchise.
The original Awarapan, directed by Mohit Suri, released in 2007 and had a modest box office performance. However, over the years, the film found a dedicated fan base, ultimately achieving cult status. Emraan’s portrayal of Shivam, a character full of emotion and vulnerability, became a standout aspect of the film, and audiences are eager to witness the continuation of Shivam’s journey in this sequel.
Joining Emraan on screen is Disha Patani, who has been cast as the leading lady in Awarapan 2. This pairing has generated significant buzz, with fans curious to see the on-screen chemistry and narrative evolution from the original.
The project was officially announced earlier this year on Emraan Hashmi’s birthday, following years of fan demand for a continuation of the story. Despite Mohit Suri not returning to direct, Emraan has promised that the sequel will preserve the soulful musical essence that made the first film memorable. The screenplay, penned by Bilal Siddiqui, is expected to strike the same emotional chords while offering fresh narrative elements.
Awarapan 2 is slated for a theatrical release on April 3, 2026, giving fans a long-awaited cinematic event to anticipate. Meanwhile, Emraan is set to appear in another significant project, Haq, produced by Junglee Pictures and co-starring Yami Gautam. Based on the landmark Shah Bano case, this courtroom drama is scheduled to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
With Awarapan 2, Emraan Hashmi is returning to the franchise that elevated him to cult status, reuniting with Vishesh Films and promising audiences a blend of emotion, music, and thrilling storytelling. The Bangkok schedule marks the first step toward bringing this long-awaited sequel to life.
