Huma on Maalik: Didn’t Charge Rajkummar, He’s a Friend
Actor Huma Qureshi wowed audiences with her electrifying performance in the newly released track “Dil Thaam Ke” from Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming film Maalik. But beyond the choreography and energy, what surprised many was her decision to not charge a single dollar for the performance. In an exclusive conversation, Huma shared that she instantly fell in love with the song the moment producer Jay Shewakramani played it for her.
Calling Maalik a project built on friendship, she explained, “You don’t take money from friends.” Though the shoot was scheduled for two days, one day extended to 16 hours due to a technically demanding shot involving intricate camera work and dozens of dancers. Huma, however, stayed committed until the final take. She also spent nearly 10 days rehearsing with choreographer Vijay Ganguly’s team, perfecting every movement and expression. She called the experience joyful and creatively fulfilling—more about passion and camaraderie than paychecks.
