Indian-American Shailesh Jejurikar Named P&G CEO

India-born business leader Shailesh Jejurikar is set to take over as Chief Executive Officer of Procter & Gamble (P&G), a leading American consumer goods company, starting January 1, 2026. The announcement has drawn praise from across the business community, including from Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra, who highlighted Jejurikar’s rise as a significant milestone for Indian-American professionals globally.

Anand Mahindra shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), calling P&G a “brand-building powerhouse” and commending Jejurikar’s ability to connect with American consumers beyond the realm of technology. Mahindra emphasized that this appointment underscores how Indian-origin leaders are making their mark not only in Silicon Valley but also in traditional, consumer-facing industries.

The recognition carried a personal note as well. Shailesh Jejurikar is the younger brother of Rajesh Jejurikar, who serves as the Executive Director and CEO of the Auto and Farm sector at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Mahindra expressed pride in what he called their “extended family,” congratulating Shailesh and encouraging him to “keep rising.”

Currently 58, Jejurikar began his journey with P&G in 1989 as an assistant brand manager. Over the past 35 years, he has steadily climbed the ranks within the company, currently serving as Chief Operating Officer. In this role, he has overseen major global operations and played a critical part in shaping the firm’s long-term growth strategy. He also sits on the board of Otis Elevator Co., adding to his portfolio of leadership roles.

Jejurikar will replace Jon Moeller in 2026 as part of a planned leadership transition at the Cincinnati-headquartered giant. His appointment is being seen as another feather in the cap for Indian-origin executives who continue to shape global business narratives with strategic acumen and cultural intelligence.

From humble beginnings in brand management to the top office of a multibillion-dollar corporation, Jejurikar’s ascent illustrates the growing influence of Indian-American talent in corporate boardrooms across the United States.
