Akshaya Patra began its journey 20 years ago and today serves 1.8 million underprivileged school children a balanced nutritious warm lunch every day. Today, it runs the world’s largest midday meal program. Akshaya Patra runs 54 semi-automatic kitchens in 14 states serving 450 million meals annually. The scale of the operation allows us to feed one child for only $20 for the entire year. In many cases our support provides the child the only meal of the day and helps break the cycle of poverty through education.
Our chapter goal is to feed 25,000 additional children this year by raising $500,000. A $200 pledge will feed 10 children for the entire year. Pledges in excess of $1000 are shown live at the event. Different sponsorship levels are shown in the attachment.
