Community Leader Awards Gala

Raj Shah - Desh Videsh Media Group congratulates this year’s awardeesOn Saturday, August 26, 2017, Desh Videsh Media Group hosted the 3rd Annual Community Leader Awards at the Sawgrass Inn & Conference Center. The local community came together for an evening of speeches, dinner, and music creating an atmosphere that was both festive and celebratory.

Over 24 years ago, Desh-Videsh began with a simple idea. Our team believed in a professional, inclusive magazine for Indians, Pakistanis, and Indo-Caribbeans that would offer insight into our culture and guidance for our youth and focus on the positives of our community. A lot has changed over the years, but those hallmarks resonate as strongly as ever.

The Desh Videsh Media Group Community Leader Awards are a continuation of those principles and represent a celebration of the accomplishments of individuals who embody a passion for and a drive to develop the positives of their community. Awardees are all active participants in the community helping bring spiritual and cultural guidance for our youth locally as well as giving back to communities in our native countries.

This year, the evening’s festive mood was set by a talented group of singers and dancers from the South Florida community. South Florida resident Rupal Talati began the evening with a her soulful singing. Parita Patel, affectionately known as the Bollywood Queen of South Florida, performed a heartwarming dance with her equally talented daughter Sanam, 12. Brother and sister duo, Aarohi (15) and Arjun Talati (12), dazzled the audience with a dance set to a Bollywood medley. All of the dancers (Rupal, Aarohi, Arujun, Parita, Sanam, Suhani) joined together to present the audience with a dance tribute to Bollywood cinema from the 1950s to now.

CEO and Co-Founder of Desh Videsh Media Group gave the keynote speech in which he offered his gratitude to the awardees for all they have accomplished. Keeping community needs in mind is of utmost importance, and he thanked the awardees for working tirelessly to advance their causes and keep the South Asian culture at heart.

The entire team at Desh Videsh Media Group congratulates this year’s awardees.
