Love Aaj Kal

Trendy and fun, Love Aaj Kal that released in 2009 taught us a new definition of love! Amidst comparisons between two eras and the changing definition of relationship, the film beautifully captures the essence that the style of love may change but the feelings that one has for their partner will remain the same even after generations! Watch this one… if you wanna spend the perfect monsoons with your partner!
Jaane Tu…. Ya Jaane Na!

Best friends falling in love is always a cliché! But Jaane Tu…. Ya Jaane Na, despite all its usual masala, is a fun-loving romantic story with interesting characters, unconventional parents intertwined with a beautiful narrative of two confused souls caught between emotions of love and friendship. This debut of Imran Khan is worth watching once if you are a rom-com fan!
Salaam Namaste

Even though it was released over a decade ago, Salaam Namaste is a fun love story between a Chef and a Doctor played by Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta. The not-so-stereotypical professions of the leads to them exploring live-in relationships, when it was still sort of taboo in Indian society, Salaam Namaste is a fun love story if you want to binge watch on something light-hearted yet romantic!
Socha Na Tha

There is a reason why there are two Imtiaz Ali films in this list! Well, the filmmaker has indeed created some timeless classics when it comes to romance! And it has the usual Imtiaz style of twist! The tagline of the film is ‘Sab chahte ki shaadi karle, phir bhi bhaag gaye’ [Everyone wanted the two to get married yet they eloped]! One of the most underrated films, this Abhay Deol, Ayesha Takia film is a coming off age romantic comedy that will definitely make you go ‘aww’!
Band Baaja Baarat

The Ranveer Singh – Anushka Sharma chemistry in this film is worth watching! We would vouch for the fact that by the end of this film you will fall in love with Bittoo Sharma and the ambitious Shruti Kakkar. Set against the backdrop of wedding planning, the film will leave you wanting for more – ‘Bread Pakkode ki kasam’!
Tanu Weds Manu

The concept of a bold and beautiful woman falling in love with a simple man is beautifully explored in this fun romantic drama that kicks off with an arranged marriage setup. R Madhavan as the simple guy and Kangana Ranaut as the bold and beautiful, this refreshing pair will definitely make you laugh and cry with them! Worth watching for a brilliant performance by Kangana.
I Hate Luv Storys

For everyone who has been a teenager when this film released, they could totally relate to the character of Imran Khan! Commitment phobic, careless and yet ambitious, his character falls in love with a ‘princess of her own castle’ character played by Sonam Kapoor. The film ‘bashes’ all the usual romantic clichés explored in Bollywood with the hero eventually succumbing to it when he realizes that he is in love too! If you are in a mood for something light, romantic and funny, this should be your pick!
Wake Up Sid

While this film is known for the way it captures the city of Mumbai, which we know is undoubtedly beautiful, it also explores the much unconventional relationship of a younger boy and an older woman. However, without making it look cringy or otherwise, this film has a unique charm and the portrayal of the journey of Aisha and Sid [the lead characters] is worth appreciating! Youthful peppered with some happy and sad moments, Wake Up Sid is what you need to watch asap, if you haven’t seen the film till now! And interestingly, the onset of monsoons plays an interesting role in it.
Pyaar Ka Punchnama

Well, some of us may have come across the famous monologue of Kartik Aaryan from the film! If you liked it, we had recommend, please watch the film! The Luka Chuppiactor is rising to stardom after the success of Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety but Kartik made a mark with his hilarious romantic drama. Three friends who find love but later, realize what it is like to be in a relationship, this film captures the boys vs. girls arguments perfectly well and the fun moments of the film will always keep you in high spirits!
Exclusive: Why didn’t Salman Khan play Amitabh Bachchan’s role in Satte Pe Satta two years ago?
While today Hrithik Roshan has confirmed that he is in talks with Farah Khan for her next movie, the remake of Satte Pe Satta, produced by Rohit Shetty, we have come to know that Sohail Khan was the first filmmaker, who had wanted to buy the rights for the movie. He has wanted to make it with his brother Salman Khan in the lead, and Sohail himself directing it. The original Satte Pe Satta (1982) was produced by Romu Sippy and directed by Raj N Sippy and the remake rights are said to be with Rajesh Vasani, of movie marketing firm, Paras Publicity Services. In the second week of July, on Facebook, Vasani had posted that the movie will have a new avatar soon and asked his followers to wait for an official announcement first on his page.

Says a trade source, “A couple of years ago, Sohail was keen to acquire the rights of Satte Pe Satta to remake it with Salman, playing Amitabh Bachchan’s role. The movie was about seven raw and unsophisticated brothers (orphans), living on a farmhouse, led by their oldest brother Ravi Anand (Amitabh Bachchan), who are taught manners and etiquette by a nurse Indu (Hema Malini). But everything becomes chaotic when Ravi’s lookalike and impersonator, Babu, turns up. It’s a double role and Salman would have been ideal to play the ideal brother. But as Sohail didn’t have Salman’s dates till 2019, and Rajesh Vasani wanted to start it earlier, he had to turn down his offer. Satte Pe Satta is a much-coveted script and has many stars vying to play it, Salman being one of them at that time. Now Hrithik Roshan in talks with Rohit Shetty and Farah Khan to play Ravi’s (Amitabh Bachchan) role. There have also been reports that Kriti Sanon (and not Deepika Padukone) has been approached to play Indu (Hema Malini’s role).”
Apart from Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini, Satte Pe Satta (1982) featured Sachin, Shakti Kapoor, Paintal, Sudhir, Inderjeet and Vikram Sahu as the rest of the six Anand brothers and Amjad Khan, Ranjeeta Kaur, Sarika, Kanwaljit Singh, Prema Narayan, Mac Mohan and Kalpana Iyer in other roles. The movie is an adaptation of the American musical film Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

Woah! Karisma Kapoor congratulates newly engaged couple actor Armaan Jain and Anissa Malhotra
EKarisma Kapoor, who is all set to return to the entertainment industry, albeit with a digital show is currently rejoicing a special moment. The actress recently took to Instagram to announce about the engagement of her cousin and actor Armaan Jain with long-time girlfriend Anissa Malhotra. She shared photos from the proposal and later even a photo of the couple cutting the cake.

Needless to say, going by the photos, it seems that Armaan Jain planned a rather romantic proposal for his girlfriend. Karisma Kapoor captured some pretty moments from the special day including the one were Armaan went down on his knees for Anissa Malhotra. Here, have a look at the photos:

Coming to Armaan Jain and Anissa Malhotra, the two of them have never shied away from the lenses when papped together and have been quite open about their relationship amidst the public as well as family. As of now, there are no details of their wedding but it is a known fact that the wedding ceremony of this grandson of cinema legend Raj Kapoor will be a grand affair.
For the uninitiated, Armaan Jain made his Bollywood debut Lekar Hum Deewana Dilin 2014. Since then, he has been missing in action on the big screen. On the other hand, his cousin and 90s diva Karisma Kapoor has made her return to the industry with the web-show Mentalhood. The actress returned to the city after spending some quality time with her family and sister Kareena Kapoor Khan in London.
5 Rain songs that define the monsoon
1. ‘Rimjhim Gire Saaawan’: R D Burman’s timeless rain ditty from Basu Chatterjee’s Manzil comes in two versions. The Kishore Kumar version of the song is a bit of a damper on screen as Amitabh Bachchan sings it at a small get-together .A bit like a butterfly in jar. Many eminent off-mainstream directors of the past like Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee had no idea of how to film a classic song. My choice is the Lata Mangeshkar version of the Manzil melody. It is shot in the pouring Mumbai rains as Mr Bachchan and Moushumi Chatterjee make a dash for it. The great Yogesh’s lyrics just make you want to fill your senses with nostalgia over chai and pakodas.

2. ‘Pani Re Pani Tera Rang Kaisa’: Manoj Kumar’s Shor featured another melody ‘Ek Pyar Ka Naghma Hai’ that surpassed this rain song. But my favourite is this Varma Malik-written masterpiece about what the rain means to different sections of people. For some it’s a luxury. For others it’s leaky roof. Manoj Kumar shot the number in a chawl with tight close-ups of drenched women heaving and thrusting. Yuck. But the number’s poignancy is conveyed in the way Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh enunciated those lines filled with fatalism and fury.
3. ‘Kali Ghata Chaye’: Asha Bhosle on Nutan in Bimal Roy’s Sujata. That was a rarity indeed. Ideally the song should have been sung by most illustrious of the Mangeshkar sisters Lata Mangeshkar. Here’s how Ashaji wangled this amazing number. Composr Sachin Dev Burman had a 3-year fall-out with his favourite ‘Lota’. Sis Asha made the best of the break. Shailendra was the break ke Bard who wrote the elegant ‘Kali Ghata Chaye More Jiya Tarsaye/Aise Mein Kahin Koi Mil Jaye’. Amen to that.
4. ‘Rimjim Ke Geet Saawan Gaye’: Oooof! The mood of uncontrollable romance that Mohammad Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar build in this song from the film Anjana about finding passion in the sound of raindrops. …Though the two actors Rajendra Kumar and Babita enacting the wonderful song were uncommitted to fuelling a friction between aag and pani the composition (by Laxmikant-Pyarelal) was so seductive so appealing it didn’t matter even if two wet lampposts emoted to the sexy lyrics.
5. ‘Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein’: Zeenat Aman featured in two utterly sexy rain songs ‘Haye Haye Yeh Majboori’ (Roti Kapada Aur Makaan) and ‘Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein’ in the film Ajnabee .The latter wins by a slender margin. It is voluptuous and vibrant, smooth and sexy as any R D Burman knew how. And then the two singers Mohd Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar did the rest. I rest my case.
