While enjoying this ecstatic phase of his career, Tiger Shroff has already started shooting for his third installment of Baaghi as we saw some pictures from the set shared earlier by Tiger Shroff.

Ecstatic Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff open up about WAR becoming a Rs. 200 crore blockbuster!

Hrithik says, “We wanted to make a film that raises the bar of action films in India and could truly compete with the best of action spectacles being made in the West. We are all delighted that War has done just that and is getting incredible love and appreciation from audiences across the world. War is a genre-defining action film and I’m extremely happy for the entire cast and crew of War because we all have given our all and more to make this film a cut above. I’m delighted that YRF has again done something completely out of the box and given India a new action franchise. I’m overjoyed and humbled about the number of records that War has created so far. As an artist, it’s always amazing to touch new milestones and create new achievements as it validates the work that we put in but I’m most happy that I have contributed in making our industry grow with War.“

Towing a similar sentiment Tiger Shroff added, “I’m simply overwhelmed. It’s an absolute blessing that our film has been accepted widely and it’s definitely going to be a special one forever because I got to do this with my hero my idol Hrithik Roshan who I aspire to be and who I am inspired by. It is also my first time working with Yash Raj Films Production, Adi Chopra and I have had such a ball working with his production house. Everything was just so smooth sailing and everything was just so professional. I was really really appreciative of the fact that any brief encounter or interaction I had with Adi sir he would always, even though he is somebody so big in the industry and I am somebody so new starting out here, listen and hear my opinions out. I found that to be something that I felt really touched about the fact that he could listen to somebody who is so junior to him in the industry. And as for Siddharth Sir he is such a clear cut sharp director, wherever he puts the camera he makes it look enhanced amazing and beautiful, everything is a spectacle whenever he is behind the camera, other than that I couldn’t be more grateful to him cause he held my hand throughout this journey and more than a director he is also my friend now so I am blessed to have this opportunity. I am blessed that my first Rs. 200 is with such an amazing team.”

Nora Fatehi turns up the heat with Marjaavaan’s new song Ek Toh Kum Zindagani!

Nora Fatehi’s sizzling dance moves in chartbusters including ‘Dilbar’ (Satyameva Jayate) and ‘Saki Saki’ (Batla House) among others has made her a household name in a short span of time. The gorgeous actress, who wants to create a niche for herself as a talented actress, has been focusing more on performance-oriented roles, like last seen in Batla House starring John Abraham.

Nora Fatehi turns up the heat with Marjaavaan's new song Ek Toh Kum Zindagani!

Interestingly, one of the major reasons why Nora agreed to do the song ‘Ek Toh Kum Zindagani’ in Marjaavaan without charging any money is because she feels obliged to filmmaker Nikkhil Advani and producer Bhushan Kumar who offered her the song ‘Dilbar’ in Satyameva Jayate, considered to be a turning point in her career.

Nora has always been grateful and humbled by the opportunity Nikkhil Advani and Bhushan Kumar have given her with both ‘Dilbar’ and ‘Saki Saki’ and she feels it’s always an honour to work with them.

Not an item number but a performance-based dance number, ‘Ek Toh Kum Zindagani’ featuring Nora that released today is a recreational version of the yesteryear classic ‘Pyaar Do Pyaar Lo’ (Jaanbaaz) and is quite relevant to the film’s narrative. Recreated by Tanishk Bagchi with additional lyrics by A M Toraz and Tanishk himself, the song is sung by the singing sensation Neha Kakkar. The song is choreographed by Adil Shaikh.

Nora Fatehi turns up the heat with Marjaavaan's new song Ek Toh Kum Zindagani!

Nora Fatehi says, “Both Bhushan Kumar and Nikkhil Advani sir gave me an opportunity of a lifetime with Dilbar and Saki Saki and I will always be grateful to them for their belief and trust in me and becoming the guiding force of my journey in Bollywood. Nikkhil sir works really hard in the way he positions his movies and songs, whether it is the script or the visuals. It is always a delight to work with him and his team.”

Director Milap Zaveri adds, ” Nora has been a lucky charm for us right from ‘Dilbar’ to ‘Saaki Saaki’. Thrilled to have her back for ‘Ek Toh Kum Zindagani‘. And also delighted to have such an iconic song in Marjaavaan. The moment Bhushan sir suggested it to me i leapt up with joy! Adil has done a fabulous job choreographing it and Nora’s dance moves are going to set the floor on fire! Hoping for a hat trick of super hits with her!”

Bhushan Kumar says, “The original iconic song from Jaanbaaz is still loved by the music lovers across all age groups. ‘Ek Toh Kum Zindagani’ is a beautiful recreation by the talented composer Tanishk and I’m sure the audience will certainly groove to the dance number.”

Nikkhil Advani informs, “When Bhushanji came with the idea of using the song, we quickly jumped on to it. Be it Satyameva Jayate or Batla House, Nora has been very lucky for the films that we have worked together. I am sure the audience will love her performance in the song. I must take the opportunity to mention Adil’s choreography. None of these chartbusters would have been possible without his immense contribution as well as the creative input from the T-Series Music Team. Their belief in us helps to keep pushing us to up the standards.

Marjaavaan produced by Bhushan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, Krishan Kumar (T-Series) and Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, Nikkhil Advani (Emmay Entertainment) will release 15th Nov 2019.

It will be the most expensive sequence of the film and is the first time that a movie has been given permission to shoot at the Aamby Valley airstrip. Interestingly, the cast and crew (except director Sanjay Gupta), including John and Emraan, required for the scenes will all be put up at the expensive resort. The actors will shift their bags and baggage for the high-octane action sequence and stay holed up in the costly timber chalets at the luxury resort for seven days. They wish to complete the schedule on time as Mumbai is more than two and a half hours (five hours up and down by car) away from the resort.

Exclusive: JOHN ABRAHAM and EMRAAN HASHMI to stay in Aamby Valley’s expensive timber CHALETS for a week to shoot Mumbai Saga MEGA CLIMAX!

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta says that the action-packed sequence will be shot over a week and will be the most expensive sequence of the movie. “We are taking the entire crew and putting them up in Aamby Valley, including the action stunt drivers, pilots and other technicians. It’s a major action-packed one between John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi and they are also staying in the chalets there. I will drive up and down from my home in Khandala. The other actors, part of this schedule, and staying there, include Prateik Babbar, Gulshan Grover and Rohit Roy. We have also hired a private aircraft for the sequence on the plane.”

Talking about the action-packed climax, Gupta, who has designed the sequences himself says, “I am shooting the climax of the movie from tomorrow (October 11) in Aamby Valley. The action sequences will be executed by the action directors (Vikram More and Anbu Arivu). This particular sequence that I am shooting with John and Emraan, does not involve hand-to-hand combat but is a high-octane, complicated action scene. It’s all very raw and real stuff, and involves chase sequences, cargo trucks, fuel tankers and an airplane. We are shooting in Aamby Valley and Mumbai Saga is probably the first film there to shoot at the airstrip there at the Aamby Valley airport. It’s the most expensive sequence in Mumbai Saga.”

Mumbai Saga is being shot at a fast pace. Sanjay Gupta has already completed his a few schedules of his gangster drama, with John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Jackie Shroff, Kajal Agarwal, Gulshan Grover, Amol Gupte, Rohit Roy and Shaad Randhawa, last month. Suniel Shetty is expected to join them in November for the final schedule.

Last week, John and Emraan shot some dramatic and action sequences (together and solo) in various parts of Mumbai and the unit took a couple of days break after that. The shooting resumes from Friday and the movie is scheduled to wrap up by December 6.

Ananya Panday opens up about prepping for Pati Patni Aur Woh

Ananya Panday, despite being just one film old, has some super exciting projects lined up for her. In her debut film Student Of The Year 2, Ananya was seen essaying the role of an extrovert teen and soon the actress will be seen in her next film Pati Patni Aur Woh where she plays the role of a slightly older character. Recently, the actress took some time to talk about how different the preparation for her second film has been in comparison to her first film.

Ananya Panday opens up about prepping for Pati Patni Aur Woh

“My preparation for SOTY was not very convenient because  Punit worked a lot on opening me up as a person. Because in general I am very outspoken and that’s how I am with my friends and family but in front of like people from the films and in front of 100 people form the set, I would get a little scared so I think he worked a lot more on just making very uninhibited and just you know opening me up and just being loud and outspoken because that’s what my character was. so that was mainly my perp for student more than lines and with Pati Patni Aur Woh its very different because I am playing a slightly older character and i tend to talk very fast because I get so excited all the time and I have so much to say – that worked for student of the year but because I am playing an older character in Pati Patni, I had to work a lot on just slowing down with the way I speak and just taking time in between my lines. there are a lot of pauses, reactions and there are a lot of scenes in the films where I am not even talking. I am just reacting to what other people and other characters are saying so that was more or less my prep for Pati Patni- working on moments more than just lines.” shared the actress.

On the work front, Ananya Panday will soon be seen opposite Kartik Aaryan in the remake of the film Pati Patni Aur Woh which is slated for December release.

13 Stars, 13 Strategies – Part I

Back in the days when the box-office mathematics was simpler and films followed convention: mainstream, mid-stream and—from the 1970s—offbeat or arty, career strategies for heroes were decided by decision-makers as per the audience’s response. Most actors then had to conform, and a Rishi Kapoor, for example, would not be offered a meaty role or an action film.

13 Stars, 13 Strategies – Par I

Today’s box office math is complex and the stakes humongous, and though decision-makers are still there, every star seems to have chalked out a policy that is a mix of personal preferences and survival instinct, the proportions dependent on the fate of their films in the last five years. Hindi films have gone through a paradigm change in all respects in this phase, and these patterns now shape the kind of scripts or films the top stars endorse or are offered.

Here’s looking at what the leading names are doing, and we begin with the two current “market-leading” AK’s, who have not had flops for a long while, thereby underscoring the fact that such strategies are working excellently for them.

Akshay Kumar: In lead roles, the man has not had a flop since the mid-2015 Brothers (after which he had the average Singh Is Blinng that year). Since the 100-crore Airlift in early 2016, and averaging two or three releases each year, Akshay Kumar has now become the most dependable of the superstars, with 10 back-to-back hits, 9 of which crossed 100 crore. Of these, his latest is Mission Mangal, one of his home productions in this list, with which he has also entered the 200 crore club.

Clearly, Akshay is following a definite pattern: two or more films with a theme connected with a social or national cause (he is also an ardent Modi supporter) all with a calculated entertainment quotient, juxtapose a comic entertainer, like the forthcoming Housefull 4 or Laxmmi Bomb. Akshay never sidelines his two core strengths—action and comedy. After Kesari, he is also trying the historical genre again with Prithviraj. And so bio-pics, contemporary as well as period, are in as well.

His films’ budgets are controlled, the pre-production meticulous, the shoots tight, and it’s a win-all situation for everyone from the exhibitors to the unit hands, who get employment in more films a year than with the remaining big names. And the heroine—if at all cast romantically opposite him— comes from any but the topmost brackets, thus downsizing the costs of production. Katrina Kaif in Sooryavanshi is an exception that proves the rule.

Ayushmann Khurrana: The world is jealous of him today for having cracked the formula of box-office self-reliance. His limited oeuvre has had 8 hits in 12 releases, and very impressively, each film had something of importance to say to society—but in a wholesome, entertaining way. The 12th release, Dreamgirl, seemingly his most “commercial” film, also has what Ayushmann calls “a value addition”—a homily or two for society.

Ayushmann feels that his recent National award is the perfect validation that what he is doing is right, and that he should not change his “formula”. “I just have to continue to get my basics right, and go by the material I am getting,” he feels.

And what are his “basics”? “I want to try different things. I never think about hits. I go by my gut-feel. All I look for is that the film should be absolutely fresh for Indian cinema, and the freshness must be good enough to last for two hours—very often, the idea is great but there is not enough material for a nice full-length film. I keep the script ahead of my character. If the script is good, and there is elbow room for my character, I go for it.”

With six back-to-back hits in three years, Ayushmann, far from being considered a second Amol Palekar (of the 1970s) is now inching towards joining the A-list—on his own terms. And this is where misguided actors who tried to “change” the infinitely sagacious Hindi film audience, like Abhay Deol, failed miserably.

Ajay Devgn: Ajay Devgn, although with a lesser degree of success and media attention than Akshay Kumar, has followed a sinilar pattern as tailored to his own persona. Action interspersed with comedy is his choice as well, though Devgn’s sense of comedy is different, as is his more intense dramatic image.

After the 2014 disaster Action Jackson, Ajay starred in the average DrishyamShivaay and Baadshaho could not get returns for their high costs, but after that, Ajay leaped into the 200 crore club with the ro(lli)cking  Golmaal Again (2017). Raid, Total Dhamaal and De De Pyaar De have since consolidated his success quotient, and his fans even went gaga over his limited special appearance in Simmba.

Today, Ajay has an enviable mix of films—home production Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior (a grand historical), Bhuj: The Pride Of India and Maidaan, both bio-pics, Luv Ranjan’s romantic comedy, the S.S. Rajamouli biggie RRR and Neeraj Pandey’s Chanakya¸ each a unique package justifying his star-power.

Aamir Khan: Aamir Khan continues on his self-styled unique path: coming up are home production Laal Singh Chaddha, another biopic after Dangal, and Mogul, the T-Series bio on their founder Gulshan Kumar. With the kind of (rare) films he does, he can continue to be one of a kind!

Hrithik Roshan: The superstar, despite his immense pulling-power and talent, has been largely floundering since 2014, going wrong either in film selection (Bang Bang!Mohenjo Daro) or budgets-versus-returns (Krrish 3, Kaabil). Super 30 has shown him the middle-way—the correct mix of great potential in his role and audience appeal.

War showcased his stardom as well as huge acting (and action) prowess on a Dhoom:2-Krrish-like scale, and while Krrish 4 and Krrish 5 are a shade delayed due to his father Rakesh Roshan’s health issues, Hrithik now seems to have moved consciously away from the “global” kind of movies to films with a wide pan-Indian appeal, just like his father’s directorial. And with his humongous talent, he is bound to benefit from these modifications.
