Dipika Chikhlia Backs Ramayana Casting Choices

Dipika Chikhlia, widely remembered for her iconic portrayal of Goddess Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s legendary television series Ramayan, has extended her support to the casting of Sai Pallavi and Ranbir Kapoor in the upcoming cinematic adaptation of the epic directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The actress believes both performers are well-suited for the legendary roles of Sita and Lord Ram.

During a promotional interaction for her upcoming film Tera Mera Nata, Dipika expressed confidence that the two actors will bring sincerity and depth to their characters. She praised Sai Pallavi as an outstanding performer and appreciated Ranbir Kapoor’s strong acting skills, stating that both have the ability to do complete justice to such culturally significant roles.

Dipika also reflected on her own journey as Sita, noting that even decades after the original Ramayan aired in 1987, audiences continue to show her immense respect. She shared that many people still greet her with folded hands or bow in reverence, something she believes reflects devotion toward the character rather than herself personally.

The original television series remains one of the most influential shows in Indian entertainment history, featuring Arun Govil as Lord Ram, Sunil Lahri as Lakshman, Arvind Trivedi as Ravan, and Dara Singh as Hanuman. It became a nationwide cultural phenomenon and continues to be remembered fondly.

She also encouraged audiences to support smaller films like her upcoming project, emphasizing that heartfelt storytelling deserves equal appreciation.

The new Ramayana film adaptation is among the most anticipated projects in Indian cinema, with expectations high for its modern retelling of the epic story while maintaining its spiritual and cultural essence.
