Since a few months, there have been speculations that Farah’s next film is a remake of 1982 entertainer Satte Pe Satta. The names of Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma have been tossed around as the leading cast. Shakti Kapoor, who featured in the original, even stated that he’ll like his son Siddhanth to step into his shoes in the remake.

At the 4th Big Cine Expo held in Mumbai today, Farah was the guest of honour and she was felicitated for her contribution to box office. Expectedly the question in the minds of many media persons here was whether Satte Pe Satta remake is in the offing. The choreographer turned filmmaker refused to accept or deny the reports as to whether her next directorial is the remake of the Amitabh Bachchan-Hema Malini starrer. But in an exclusive interview to Bollywood Hungama, Farah said, “Right now I am prepping. So I am very happy as I am busy with music sittings and casting. Boman Irani joins the cast of Kabir Khan's '83; All set to play ‘boyhood hero’ Farokh Engineer

The actor, who plays the character of the legendary former opening batsman and wicket-keeper, Farokh Engineer, in the film talks about his role, “He was the only Indian commentator during the 1983 World Cup. His story, along with co-commentator Brian Johnston’s, runs parallel to the main narrative.” During the historic World Cup final between India and West Indies, Johnston had jokingly asked Engineer if the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, would declare a public holiday if India wins, to which his Indian counterpart had quipped, “She is an avid listener of the show, and would declare a public holiday just hearing this.” Turned out, Engineer’s prediction came true.

Boman Irani joined the team at the Lord’s cricket ground on Sunday. Talking about the same he said, “I will be shooting for a couple of days here, and then join the team in Mumbai. It’s a great honour to play this legendary character,” the actor beams. Ask him if he has met Engineer as a part of his prep, and he reveals, “I went to Manchester during the World Cup this year and stayed with him for a few days. We even watched the India versus Pakistan match together. It was so surreal; like meeting your boyhood hero. I stayed at his house and we had some good laughs while trying to understand the man for the role.”

“Kabir called me a few months ago and offered me this role. Instinctively, I replied, ‘If you give this role to someone else, we’ll not be friends anymore.’ I’m here now, shooting,” Boman shares. Putting on make-up and prosthetics to transform into Farokh Engineer for the big screen was memorable as well. “While I was getting into make-up, I called Engineer to thank him for the honour of portraying him. The ’83 World Cup is a big part of our lives, not just as cricket lovers, but as Indians,” the actor adds.

Touted to be the biggest sports film of all times, ’83 is being co-produced by Madhu Mantena, Sajid Nadiadwala and Reliance Entertainment. The movie is slated to hit the screens on April 10, 2020.

Madhu Mantena to make a film on the life of last Hindu queen of Kashmir, Kota Rani

Producer Madhu Mantena, of now-disbanded Phantom Films, is getting back in the film circuit with an interesting tale of Kota Rani. She was the last Hindu queen of Kashmir and very little is known about her. The producer will be bankrolling it with Phantom Films & Reliance Entertainment.

Madhu Mantena said that we don’t know much about Kota Rani and it won’t be an exaggeration to compare her to Cleopatra. He added that a lot of things that we are witnessing today are directly related to her story. Mantena said that she was the most able woman ruler India produced.

It seems like the cast and the director are yet to be decided by the makers.

EXCLUSIVE: Was Salman Khan’s high remuneration of 100 crores, the reason why Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Inshallah did not happen?

The decision of Sanjay Leela Bhansali not to go ahead with Inshallah starring Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt, has sent shock waves through Bollywood as the movie was to roll with the superstar in the first week of September. But apparently, there were rumblings of discontent between the filmmaker and Salman, since the last few months, once the star had given his nod to the project and one of the causes was about Salman’s fees in the movie.

EXCLUSIVE: Was Salman Khan’s high remuneration of 100 crores, the reason why Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Inshallah did not happen?

Says a trade source, “It’s a strange decision to shelve the movie as it’s already on floors. Alia Bhatt, apparently, shot for four days this month, for a song for the movie in Mehboob Studios in Mumbai. Sanjay Leela Bhansali was producing Inshallah and the movie was said to have a Rs. 150 cr budget as it was being shot in North India and many parts of USA. There have been various speculations – from the script not being complete to date issues but apparently, they had a fallout over the remuneration.”

The source adds, “Bhansali is producing the film, along with Salman Khan Films and the filmmaker wanted a continuous stretch of 120 days to complete the movie, starting from September, and with the filmmaker everyone knows, that can get extended to many more days. Salman and the filmmaker are working together after 12 years as Saawariya was their last movie together, Salman stated reasonably that he had Big Boss 13, and his other brand commitments to complete but Bhansali was adamant. Everyone including Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are used to his style of working and give away their dates for even a year. But Salman could not do that, so he apparently asked ₹100 crore as his fees (which included his satellite and digital rights) as compensation. In a ₹150-crore budget with ₹100 crore taken by lead actor and some more as the filmmaker’s fees, what would remain as profit? SLB felt if Salman was getting such a steep hike he deserved more too. A big financier is said to have bought rights of Inshallah for distribution just a few days ago for ₹195 crores (₹165 crores plus additonal Rs 25 crores for P&A) but yet they were not able to sort out their creative and financial disagreements. On Sunday when finally both realised that they could not work together right now, they decided to part ways, beginning with Salman’s ambiguous tweet, ‘The film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali is pushed but I will still see you all on Eid, 2020. Insha-Allah!’ Bhansali also announced through social media that he had decided not to go ahead with the movie.”

There were other creative issues too, which both could not come to terms with. The source adds, “Salman is known to have his own scripting sense, so he wanted to be involved in the process as he is usually in all his movies, and every other department including music and costumes but SLB is a fiercely individualistic and creative filmmaker who doesn’t tolerate interference at any level. His movies are huge box-office successes and he doesn’t feel the need to share his creativity with anybody. Both are temperamental, used to their own styles of working and haven’t worked together for years so while many reasons will be given for their not working together in Inshallah, only the very few, including Salman and SLB will know the real reason why… Both are disappointed because they are friends too and were looking at working with each other but the business of films is separate from friendship hence they decided it’s better to part on cordial terms now than have fights during the making of the movie.”

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is already said to have approached Shah Rukh Khan for his next. They were to produce a movie together with SRK in the lead which would be directed by a top director but now trade buzz is that SLB will be directing it himself. “It’s an intense romance called Izhaar (working title) and currently, SRK and Bhansali are working out the dates. If they do it, it will mean that both will be doing a film after 17 years. Their last film together was Devdas (2002).”

Inshallah: Salman Khan says he remains friends with Sanjay Leela Bhansali despite shelving the film

It’s been a day with so many developments unfolding on social media. A few days before Inshallah or In-shaa-allah starring Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt was supposed to go on the floor, Salman announced that the film has been put on hold but said that he would still see everyone on Eid 2020. This was followed by a statement from Bhansali Productions in which they said that the film is shelved and they will announce something soon.

Inshallah: Salman Khan says he remains friends with Sanjay Leela Bhansali despite shelving the film

Ever since the news of Inshallah being delayed was announced, rumours of the reasons have started doing the rounds. According to some sources, the ace filmmaker didn’t appreciate the constant interference in his artistic vision.

A source says, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali respects and loves his actors and suggestions are welcome but not if they aim to alter the narrative. Hence, he has taken the decision to shelve the film. However, they are still friends and Sanjay Leela Bhansali has immense love and respect for him.”

Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Salman Khan have had a past in which they did Khamoshi: The Musical and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. He was introduced to Salman by Manisha Koirala during Khamoshi and this followed by the a huge hit with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Ajay Devgn. But, they also had a fallout after Bhansali cast Shah Rukh Khan as Devdas. They were supposed to do a film together but Guzaarish eventually went to Hrithik Roshan. Finally, after years, they reunited in Saawariya which marked the debut of Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor. With Inshallah, they were returning after two decades.

Salman Khan reveals that Sanjay Leela Bhansali was a friend even before he met him for Khamoshi through Manisha Koirala. They did Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. When he approached him for Inshallah, he liked the script and was on board for the film. He said that one thing he knows about Sanjay is that he won’t be unfaithful to his work. He wants Bhansali to make the film he wants to. He said that nothing has changed between them and he hopes nothing has changed for Sanjay as well. Salman added that he is extremely close to his mother Leela and sister Bela. He wished the best for the filmmaker and said that he will work in the future with him.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s films have always had incredible popularity and celebrated not only in our country but overseas as well. His films are known for setting new benchmarks. Be it Ram Leela, which offered a new vision to love or a Bajirao Mastani, which further broke records of Ram Leela to become a beautiful amalgamation of love and sacrifice. His last offering Padmaavat, has soared high with its distinct treatment to a queen’s life and her loyalty and love for her husband.

While we wait for official announcements from both the parties about their next film, Salman Khan has hinted that he might come on Eid 2020 with Kick 2. With that being said, Akshay Kumar has already preponed Laxmmi Bomb and will be arriving on Eid, May 22, 2020.
