HEALTHY SUMMER DRINKS

With summer at hand, it’s a perfect time to try new cool beverages.
Family and friends have been coming over and will be,
so why not try something new!

Pineapple, celery, apple & cucumber with ginger

Makes approx 1½ cups

Useful for the relief of arthritis, since the pineapple, celery and ginger all have anti-inflammatory properties.

Ingrediants

1/4 ripe pineapple, peeled and roughly chopped

2 stalks celery

1 apple

1 small cucumber

1 small piece fresh ginger root (approx /3 )

Process all ingredients through Juice Fountain and serve immediately.


Pineapple, papaya & banana with ginger

Makes approx 1½ cups

Ginger is useful in the treatment of nausea. This nutritious drink also provides carbohydrates and many of the nutrients that may be lacking if a person has been ‘off their food’.

Ingrediant

1/4 ripe pineapple, peeled and roughly chopped

1 cup peeled and roughly chopped papaya

1 small banana

1 small piece fresh ginger root (approx 2/3 )

Process all ingredients through Juice Fountain and serve immediately.

TIP: To help clean the micromesh stainless steel filter, use the nylon cleaning brush provided with your Breville Juice Fountain.


Watermelon, papaya & strawberry

Makes approx 1½ cups

Contains fiber, vitamins C, A and folate (one of the B vitamins). Watermelon is also one of three major sources of . lycopene, a member of the carotenoid family associated with the reduced risk of various types of cancer.

Ingrediant

1 cup chopped, seeded watermelon (skin removed)

1 container strawberries, hulled

1 cup papaya, peeled and seeded

Process all ingredients through Juice Fountain. Serve immediately.


Raspberries & Strawberries Drink WITH PEAR

Makes approx 1½ cups

The large number of seeds in raspberries makes them a rich source of dietary fiber. They are also rich in vitamin C.

Ingrediant

1 cup frozen raspberries (allow to thaw until just soft)

1 container strawberries, hulled

1 pear

Process all ingredients through Juice Fountain and serve immediately.

TIP: For easy cleaning, simply rinse all of the Breville Juice Fountation’s removable parts under running water immediately after use.


Papaya, pineapple & orange

Makes approx 2 cups

Full of vitamin C and beta-carotene, plus the pineapple contains anti-inflammatory agents.

Ingrediant

1 cup peeled and chopped papaya

1 cup peeled and chopped pineapple

2 oranges, peeled and halved crushed ice

Place papaya in Moda Blender and process until just smooth. Set aside. Process pineapple and orange through Juice Fountain. Add to blender with crushed ice. Blend until smooth and well combined. Serve.


Mango, cherry & peach milkshake

Makes approx 2 cups

Ingrediant

1 large or 2 small mangoes, peeled and chopped

1 cup cherries, pitted

1 large or 2 small peaches, chopped

1 cup milk, chilled

4 scoops vanilla ice cream

2 scoops mango sorbet

Place mango, cherries, peach, milk and half the ice cream into Moda Blender. Process until smooth. Pour into serving glasses and top with remaining ice cream and mango sorbet.


Raspberry & strawberry smoothie

Makes approx 2 cups

Ingrediant

10oz frozen raspberries (allow to thaw until just soft)

8 scoops vanilla ice cream

2 tablespoons raspberry or strawberry topping

Place raspberries and half the ice cream into Moda Blender and process until smooth. Pour into glasses, add the remaining ice cream scoops and drizzle with topping.

TIPS: You can trim down these recipes by using low-fat milk and ice-cream – for yourself or kids aged over five years. Kids under five years need whole milk dairy products to meet their nutritional needs. -Milkshakes and smoothies are great ways of getting kids to eat lots of fruit.


Peach, strawberry & pink grapefruit

Makes approx 2 cups

Ingrediant

1 large peach, quartered

1 container strawberries, hulled

1 pink grapefruit, peeled and processed through Juice Fountain crushed ice

Place peach, strawberries and ice into Moda Blender and process until smooth. Add grapefruit juice and blend until just combined. Serve immediately.


Mango, lime & mandarin

Makes approx 2-1/2 cups

Ingrediant

1 large or 2 small mangoes, peeled and chopped

1 lime, zest removed with grater and reserved, flesh processed through Juice Fountain

4 mandarins, peeled and processed through Juice Fountain

crushed ice

Place all the ingredients, including reserved lime zest, into Moda Blender. Process until smooth and well combined then serve immediately.

TIP: To clean the Breville Moda Blender, half fill the blender pitcher with lukewarm water and a small amount of detergent. Press the ‘pulse’ button and operate briefly to clean the pitcher.


Tropical blend

Makes approx 2 cups

Ingrediant

1 mango, halved, seeded and peeled

1½ kiwi fruit, peeled

1/4 pineapple, trimmed and halved

¼ cup fresh mint leaves

½ cup crushed ice

Process all ingredients through Juice Fountain. Scoop ice into glasses. Pour juice over and serve immediately.


Golden orchard

Makes approx 2 cups

Ingrediant

1 cup apple juice

1/2 cup thick plain yogurt

1 small can mandarin segments, drained

1-1/2tablespoons molasses

Place all ingredients into the Moda Blender. Process until smooth and thick. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.


Pink pirouette

Makes approx 2 cups

Ingrediant

1 cup cranberry juice chilled

1 small carton low-fat cherry yogurt

1 medium can pitted black cherries

Place all ingredients into the Moda Blender. Process until smooth and thick. Pour into two glasses and serve immediately.

TIP: Try using -natural yogurts with live acidophilus and bifidus cultures. They, promote a healthy intestinal system and goo’d digestion


Banana, kiwi fruit, lemon & pear

Makes approx 2 cups’

A nutritious drink containing fiber, carbohydrates and vitamin C.

Ingrediant

1 ripe banana, peeled

2 kiwi fruit, peeled

1/2 lemon, peeled:

1 pear

Process ingredients through Juice Fountain and serve immediately.


Mango passion

Makes approx 2 cups

This delicious booster is rich in protein, calcium and many vitamins.

Ingrediant

2/3 cup buttermilk, chilled

1/2 cup low-fat milk, chilled

1 small tub frozen mango yogurt

1 small mango, peeled, seeded and chopped pulp of 2 passionfruit

2 teaspoons honey (optional)

Place ingredients into Moda Blender. Process until smooth and thick. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.


Grape, kiwi fruit & strawberry

Makes approx 3 cups

A high-protein drink with calcium, fiber, vitamin C and enzymes from the kiwi fruit.

Ingrediant

18oz seedless grapes, stems removed

2 kiwi fruit, peeled

1 punnet strawberries, hulled

2 cups skim milk

2 tablespoons powdered protein drink mix

1/2 cup crushed ice

Process grapes, kiwi fruit and strawberries through Juice Fountain. Mix in milk, protein drink mix and crushed iced. Serve immediately.

TIP: Protein drink mix is a high-protein powder that is low in fat, calories and sodium. It’s also a good source of fiber.


Papaya, pineapple & pink grapefruit

Makes approx 1½ cups

Pineapple is great for assisting with weight loss – it contains an enzyme that suppresses the appetite.

Ingrediant

1/4 ripe papaya, peeled and cut into chunks

1/4 ripe pineapple, peeled and cut into chunks

1 pink grapefruit, peeled and halved

Process all ingredients throgh Juice Fountain and serve immediately.


Watermelon, mint & honeydew melon

Makes approx 2 to 3 cups

Watermelon and honeydew melon have great diuretic properties – drink this mixture first thing in the morning.

Ingrediant

2 cups peeled, chopped and seeded watermelon

2 cups peeled, chopped and seeded honeydew melon

1 cup finely chopped mint crushed ice

Place all ingredients in the Moda Blender and process until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

TIPS: Drink juices to get vital nutrients when dieting to ensure that you won’t feel tired and lifeless. – Slippery elm gives you a feeling of ‘fitness’. Mix two teaspoons of the powder to a paste with a little boiling-water in a glass and then add to your prepared juice.
